Exeed, the premium marque under Chinese automotive giant Chery, has officially begun pre-sales for its newest mid-size SUV, the Exlantix ET5. This model enters the market with an attractive introductory price of 159,900 yuan—roughly equivalent to $22,500—which is likely to appeal to buyers seeking strong value in the increasingly competitive extended-range and plug-in SUV segment. The ET5 offers a pure-electric driving range of approximately 205 kilometers and an impressive total range of around 1,310 kilometers when operating in hybrid mode. It also debuts a new intelligent driving platform jointly developed with Horizon Robotics, marking a key step in Exeed’s push into advanced smart-vehicle technologies.
The exterior of the ET5 adopts a clean, modern design language. At the front, the SUV features a gently curved upper grille section, accompanied by a distinctive triple-light-bar headlamp design. The English “EXEED” emblem is prominently centered on the fascia, reinforcing the brand’s global aspirations. At the back, the styling is completed with a full-width LED light bar that enhances nighttime visibility while establishing a recognizable visual identity. In terms of size, the Exlantix ET5 measures 4,780 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,725 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. These proportions place it firmly within the mid-size SUV category, positioned to compete directly with similar electric-leaning models available in China.
Stepping inside, buyers are greeted by a minimalist yet highly digital interior environment. The dashboard features three independent displays: a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel for the driver, a 15.6-inch touchscreen in the center console, and a 12.3-inch passenger-side display, all designed for seamless touch interaction. The system is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8255 processor, ensuring smooth operation even when multitasking across apps and infotainment functions. Two interior color schemes are available, and the cabin includes modern conveniences such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, and an assortment of comfort-oriented equipment. A multifunction steering wheel featuring both touch-sensitive controls and physical roller wheels, along with a column-mounted gear selector, further emphasizes the technology-first approach.
Under the hood, the ET5 performs as an extended-range electric vehicle. It employs a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine that works exclusively as a generator, delivering 115 kW of power. The primary source of propulsion is a 195 kW electric motor producing 324 Nm of torque. The vehicle utilizes a 32.66 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which supports the claimed 205 km all-electric range under the CLTC testing standard. When combining both power sources, the SUV can reportedly achieve a total range of about 1,310 km and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
The ET5’s EV architecture is built to meet China’s upcoming 2026 national battery safety requirements. Exeed reports that the vehicle has successfully gone through 41 safety evaluations, including a 200 kN static crush test and a 105-second internal fire test in which the battery did not ignite or explode. The system also incorporates a rapid 2-millisecond high-voltage cutoff for additional protection. Meanwhile, the smart-driving technology is powered by Horizon Robotics’ “Journey 6P” computing platform, offering 560 TOPS of processing capability. Combined with LiDAR, radar units, and ultrasonic sensors, this system supports both highway and urban assisted-driving functions.
Pre-sale prices begin at 159,900 yuan for the entry-level “210 Comfort” version and rise to 174,900 yuan (around $24,600) for the “210 Laser Radar Premium” variant, which adds advanced sensing hardware. Positioned against strong competitors such as the BYD Song L DM-i and the Leapmotor C11, the Exlantix ET5 aims to deliver a compelling mix of technology, efficiency, and value within China’s expanding mid-size EREV market.
