Toyota has officially rolled out the right-hand-drive version of its bZ3X electric SUV in Hong Kong and Macau, signaling the model’s formal arrival in both Special Administrative Regions. This marks an important milestone because the bZ3X is the first mass-produced Toyota battery-electric model developed specifically with the Hong Kong market in mind. Its public debut took place on September 27 at Toyota’s flagship showroom in Kowloon Bay. According to information gathered from CarNewChina, the model begins at approximately $33,100 in Macau, although the exact pricing for Hong Kong has not yet been confirmed and is expected to differ.
In terms of size, the bZ3X sits within the compact-to-mid-size SUV segment. The vehicle measures 4,600 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,645 mm tall, supported by a 2,765 mm wheelbase. It has a curb weight of around 1,835 kg and offers a luggage capacity of 427 liters. To support city maneuverability, the bZ3X provides a turning radius of 5.8 meters. The SUV comes equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/45R19 tires. For handling and ride comfort, Toyota has paired a MacPherson strut suspension with an anti-roll bar in the front and a semi-independent torsion beam suspension at the rear. Braking is handled by ventilated discs in the front and solid discs at the rear.
Inside the cabin, Toyota has focused on delivering a technology-rich, comfort-oriented experience. The vehicle features Toyota’s Intelligent Driving Assistant, operable through an accompanying smartphone app. A digital 8.88-inch instrument panel works alongside a large 14.6-inch central infotainment screen that integrates media, navigation, and various vehicle systems. The SUV supports wireless Apple CarPlay and includes English voice command functionality. A premium YAMAHA 11-speaker surround-sound audio system comes standard. Front occupants benefit from power-adjustable seats equipped with heating, ventilation, and cooling functions, while rear passengers can recline their seats between 117 and 137 degrees. Additional comfort is provided by a dual-zone climate control system with PM2.5 air filtration, rear air vents, and customizable 32-color ambient mood lighting. Other convenience features include a panoramic glass roof with electric shade, 360-degree parking camera, and an emergency power cut-off feature.
For power, the Hong Kong and Macau models use a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor producing 150 kW and 210 Nm of torque. This is paired with a 70.0 kWh LFP battery, offering up to 565 km of driving range under the NEDC cycle. The vehicle supports CCS2 charging standards, with 6.6 kW AC charging and 90 kW DC fast-charging capability, along with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for powering external devices.
The bZ3X first entered the Chinese mainland market in March 2025 via the GAC-Toyota joint venture. In China, prices began at around $15,100, and Toyota reportedly received 10,000 orders within the first hour. Several configurations were offered, featuring battery capacities ranging from 50.0 kWh to 67.9 kWh, corresponding to CLTC ranges between 430 km and 610 km. Higher-spec mainland trims also come with Robosense lidar and Momenta’s advanced autonomous driver-assist technologies.
Compared to those variants, the Hong Kong and Macau version is most similar to the 520 Pro+ trim but instead features the larger 70.0 kWh battery and premium interior touches like the YAMAHA audio system and panoramic roof. However, the more advanced 165 kW motor and lidar-based driver assistance found in the top mainland 610 Max trim are not included. Pricing also reflects regional differences, with the Macau model priced about 47 percent higher than the corresponding mainland trim, due to taxation, logistics, and the smaller scale of right-hand drive production. Pricing for Hong Kong remains pending and may vary once officially announced.
