JAC Expands T9 Line-Up With New Osprey Models

JAC is preparing to broaden its 2026 T9 ute lineup in Australia with the introduction of two new lifestyle-oriented models: the T9 Osprey and the T9 Osprey X. These versions are aimed at buyers seeking a more feature-rich yet affordable ute, and both come in at under the $50,000 mark. The standard Osprey begins at $46,629, while the slightly more stylised Osprey X is priced from $47,079, with both figures excluding on-road costs. Their most notable distinction from the lower-priced T9 variants is the reduced payload capacity, which sits just below one tonne. This weight rating is intentional, as it allows the vehicles to qualify for novated leasing arrangements, which commonly require a payload under 1000kg for eligibility.

At the other end of the expanded catalogue, JAC has unveiled the first cab-chassis version of the T9 Oasis. This new derivative mirrors the equipment list of the standard T9 Oasis but is supplied without the factory tub, giving customers greater flexibility in configuring the rear body for work-specific needs. The T9 Oasis Cab-Chassis is priced from $41,162 before on-road fees, excluding any tray. Buyers will receive a 1910mm by 1800mm aluminium drop-side tray as standard equipment, featuring 250mm-high sides and a mesh headboard. For customers needing heavier-duty solutions, JAC will soon expand its official accessories catalogue to include steel and reinforced tray options.

Payload capability varies across the new offerings. Both the Osprey and Osprey X deliver a 980kg payload, whereas the Oasis Cab-Chassis provides a higher official payload of 1165kg, not counting the tray itself. JAC also confirmed that another cab-chassis variant, the more budget-focused T9 Tradepro, is on the way. Pricing for this model has not yet been disclosed.

All versions of the T9 family—including the new Osprey pair and the Oasis Cab-Chassis—are powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 125kW of power and 410Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF and a selectable dual-range four-wheel-drive system.

Inside, the T9 Oasis Cab-Chassis keeps all the comfort and technology features of the ute-bodied Oasis, such as single-zone climate control, a 10.4-inch central infotainment display, leather-accented seating, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, wireless smartphone charging, LED headlights with automatic operation, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The only interior alteration is a switch to a black roof lining instead of the grey finish found in the Oasis ute.

The Osprey and Osprey X build on the premium T9 Haven by adding heated front seats, quilted leather upholstery, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, dark-tinted rear windows, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and power-folding side mirrors, along with several other convenience upgrades. The Osprey X further distinguishes itself with a black-accented appearance package featuring black alloy wheels and darkened trim in place of chrome on the exterior, including the grille, mirror caps, door handles, and wheel-arch detailing.

JAC Motors Australia’s managing director, Ahmed Mahmoud, described the arrival of the Osprey models as a strategic move to enter a sizable and lucrative segment of the ute market. According to JAC, these additions are now available nationwide through its dealer network. Pricing for the upcoming genuine tray range is still to be confirmed.
