Great Wall Motor (GWM) has officially began pre-sales for the Ora 5, a compact fully electric SUV that marks a significant milestone for the Ora brand as its first-ever electric SUV offering. The new model arrives in five different variants, providing customers with two CLTC-rated driving ranges to choose from: 480 km or 580 km, depending on the battery configuration. Higher-spec trims stand out thanks to the addition of a roof-mounted lidar sensor, which enables the brand’s sophisticated Coffee Pilot Ultra advanced driver assistance system.

Design-wise, the Ora 5 carries forward the playful and retro-inspired aesthetic that has become a hallmark of the Ora lineup. The SUV retains soft curves and charming proportions, expressing a friendly, approachable character. Measuring 4471 mm in length, 1833 mm in width, and 1641 mm in height, with a 2720 mm wheelbase, the vehicle comfortably fits within the compact SUV segment. Buyers can personalize their Ora 5 with a selection of six exterior colors, including gray, green, blue, beige, red, and white—options intended to appeal to a broad range of tastes.

One of the most notable highlights of the premium variants is the extensive sensor suite. With the addition of roof lidar, the Ora 5 is equipped with a total of 27 onboard sensors that work together to power GWM’s in-house developed Coffee Pilot Ultra ADAS platform. This advanced system provides highway NOA (navigation on autopilot), urban NOA, and automated parking assistance, bringing the compact SUV closer to semi-autonomous driving capability.

Stepping inside, the cabin adopts a clean and minimalist approach, emphasizing simplicity and digital integration. Front and center are two sharp displays: a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating touchscreen for infotainment and vehicle controls. A two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel contributes to the modern look. The Ora 5 runs GWM’s third-generation Coffee OS, which integrates DeepSeek’s large language AI model and is powered by MediaTek’s advanced 4nm automotive chip, promising smoother interactions and quicker processing. Beneath the dashboard air vents sits a series of physical toggles with a chrome finish for essential functions. The center console also includes a wireless fast charging pad for mobile devices. To enhance cabin ambience, a 1.65 m² panoramic sunroof floods the interior with natural light.

In terms of performance, the Ora 5 is powered by an electric motor delivering 201 hp, offering brisk acceleration suitable for urban and suburban driving. The SUV uses lithium iron phosphate battery packs sourced from Svolt, available in 45.3 kWh and 58.3 kWh versions. These correspond to the previously mentioned 480 km and 580 km CLTC ranges, giving buyers flexibility based on their driving needs and budget.

With its blend of charming looks, advanced tech integration, and competitive range options, the Ora 5 aims to strengthen GWM’s presence in the booming compact electric SUV market.
