Cupra has revealed a new special edition of its popular hatchback, the Leon VZ TCR, a model clearly inspired by the brand’s motorsport heritage. Only 499 units of this high-performance version will be built, with the first deliveries scheduled for late next year. Even from afar, its racing influence is unmistakable. The car features an aggressive aerodynamic package consisting of a prominent front splitter, distinctive side skirts, and a sizable rear wing. These elements are complemented by a unique quad-exhaust system finished in Cupra’s signature copper tone. Lightweight performance wheels, paired with high-grip tires, further enhance the car’s purposeful stance. Completing the exterior package are special body graphics, carbon-fiber mirror housings, and a dark-chrome Cupra emblem placed beneath the hood. The rear liftgate also carries a VZ TCR badge, marking its exclusivity.
While Cupra hasn’t yet shared photos of the interior, the company has disclosed several key details. The cabin is equipped with CUPBucket front seats, designed to hold the driver and passenger firmly in place, thanks to standard four-point racing harnesses. Each car comes with a laser-etched serial number on the door panel, reinforcing its limited-edition status. Interestingly, the rear seats are removable, a feature aimed at reducing weight for drivers who plan to take the car to the track.
Described as the most powerful front-wheel-drive Leon to date, the VZ TCR honors the TCR race car that inspired it. Under the hood sits a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable of producing 321 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Power is managed by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, allowing the hatchback to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Cupra notes that the car has an “unrestricted top speed,” although the company has chosen not to publish an exact figure. Along with the potent powertrain, the VZ TCR is equipped with adaptive chassis control, a front differential lock with electronic management, a reinforced strut bar for improved rigidity, and a high-performance braking system from Akebono featuring six-piston calipers.
For buyers who want performance without all the track-focused enhancements, Cupra will also offer a more conventional Leon VZ variant. Although details are limited, this version uses the same 2.0-liter engine as the TCR model but appears to forgo some of the more extreme components such as the racing seats and advanced aerodynamics. Production of this more accessible model will be capped at 1,500 units, and it is expected to reach customers during the first quarter of 2026.
With its blend of motorsport-inspired engineering, exclusive styling, and extremely limited production, the Leon VZ TCR stands as one of the most special road-going Cupras the brand has built to date.
