Toyota’s next all-electric sedan, known as the bZ7, has surfaced in early photographs taken inside dealership facilities, offering the clearest preview yet ahead of its official arrival planned for the first quarter of 2026. The new model serves as a follow-up to the bZ3X, which Toyota showcased during the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show, and continues the brand’s China-focused electric vehicle strategy. This approach emphasizes building EVs specifically for local market expectations, often with stretched dimensions and technology partnerships tailored to Chinese buyers. For the bZ7, Toyota has once again collaborated with Huawei, equipping the sedan with the company’s DriveONE electric-motor platform, marking a notable step in their ongoing integration of domestic tech solutions.
Positioned as a mid- to large-size electric sedan, the bZ7 is expected to launch with a projected starting price of around $28,288. Its physical footprint is quite substantial, measuring 5130 mm in length, 1965 mm in width, 1506 mm in height, and offering a generous 3020-mm wheelbase. These proportions place it notably above several major competitors in the Chinese EV market, including the Xiaomi SU7, Xpeng P7 and P7+, and the BYD Han EV, suggesting that Toyota is aiming for a more premium and spacious EV segment.
Design-wise, the vehicle adopts a sleek, aerodynamic profile highlighted by a gently descending roofline and a set of modern, semi-concealed door handles. The frameless doors add an upscale touch, and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor indicates that the bZ7 will support an advanced autonomous-driving and driver-assistance suite. At the front, Toyota has implemented its latest closed-off grille aesthetic, complemented by a full-width C-shaped light bar and distinctive L-shaped lower lighting signatures paired with vertical airflow channels. The rear end integrates a continuous crystal-effect taillight, a subtle built-in spoiler, and a darkened lower bumper section. Toyota plans to release the sedan in seven exterior color options.
Inside the cabin, the bZ7 continues with the digital-forward design first seen in the bZ3X. A floating infotainment screen takes center stage, paired with a rectangular digital instrument cluster and a head-up display. The sedan features HarmonyOS 5.0, co-developed with Huawei, while also incorporating elements from Xiaomi’s in-car software ecosystem. Buyers will be able to choose from three interior color themes, all featuring premium materials such as wood accents and expansive leather upholstery. Comfort amenities include a multifunction steering wheel, wireless charging, tactile physical buttons, and a reclining “zero-gravity” passenger seat with an extendable leg rest. Remarkably, all four main seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Additional pre-launch features include a Yamaha sound system, a divided panoramic sunroof, and a thermally controlled storage compartment in the front armrest.
Motivation comes from the Huawei DriveONE motor setup delivering 207 kW of peak output. Two battery choices will be provided: 71.35 kWh and 88.13 kWh, offering estimated CLTC driving ranges of 600 km for the smaller pack and 680, 700, or 710 km depending on configuration for the larger one. The vehicle rides on a sophisticated dual-chamber air suspension paired with SDC dampers, shaped through tuning efforts from Toyota’s luxury and performance engineering divisions. More official information will be revealed as the bZ7 approaches its early-2026 market debut.
