The semi-solid state 150 kWh battery pack of Nio's ET7 has been shown by the company's CEO through a 1,044 km all-electric drive.

William Li traveled with Shen Fei, the director of Nio Power, and a Tencent reporter, live-streaming the entire trip. The excursion began at a battery swap station in Shanghai, and it ended at the Longjudong Service Area near Xiamen after 14 hours total—12.4 of which were spent driving. It had 3 percent remaining in range when the journey was over.

"The completion of this endurance challenge proves the product power of the 150kWh ultra-long endurance battery pack," Li said after the journey in a Weibo post. "More importantly, all models on sale can be flexibly upgraded to 150kWh batteries through the Nio battery swap system."

According to Car News China, the ET7 was driven by Nio's Navigate-on-Pilot+ semi-autonomous driving system for 92% of the trip, with a speed limit of 90 km/h. It achieved an average speed of 83.9 km/h and an energy consumption of just 13.2 kWh/100 km. The temperature ranged from -2 °C to 12 °C during the test, which was performed in chilly settings.

WeLion New Energy Technology is the company that created and produces the semi-solid state battery that is available for the ET7. Its single-cell energy density is 360 Wh/kg, or 260 Wh/kg for the total pack. It weighs only 20 kg more but is packed far more tightly than Nio's existing 100 kWh pack. It also has the same proportions.

The manufacturer has not yet announced pricing or begun customer delivery of ET7 cars equipped with the 150 kWh battery pack. Qin Lihong, the president of Nio, has previously stated that the pack alone will set you back about $42,000, or the price of an ET5 car.
