Styling wise, the changes are subtle but distinct. The CX-50 Hybrid sports a revised front bumper and comes with exclusive 17- or 19-inch alloy wheels. An additional touch of luxury is offered with the option of red leather upholstery, available only in the hybrid variant.

The 2025 CX-50 lineup also sees several other enhancements. All models now feature Alexa integration, making it easier for drivers to access information and control smart home devices while on the road. Safety has been a priority too, with the addition of new standard features such as a rear seat alert, vehicle exit warning, and an upgraded version of Smart Brake Support that includes nighttime pedestrian detection and head-on collision mitigation technology.

While the updates are mostly concentrated on the hybrid, Mazda has made some adjustments across the range. Notably, the top-tier CX-50 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus now includes Front Cross Traffic Alert, enhancing safety and convenience.

Under the hood, the CX-50 Hybrid is powered by a Toyota Hybrid System. This system combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission, and a small battery pack. Together, this setup delivers a total output of 219 horsepower and 221 Nm of torque, with the hybrid maintaining Mazda’s signature all-wheel drive. For those preferring non-hybrid options, the 2.5 S variant is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 187 horsepower and 251 Nm of torque, with fuel economy slightly improved to 25 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. For drivers seeking more power, a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is available, offering up to 256 horsepower and 433 Nm of torque, although these figures drop to 227 horsepower and 420 Nm with regular 87 octane fuel.

Although the hybrid system is sourced from Toyota, Mazda has fine-tuned the hybrid powertrain to align with their performance standards. The company emphasizes that their engineers meticulously calibrated the system, including the accelerator pedal response, to ensure the CX-50 Hybrid delivers the connected and responsive driving experience that Mazda vehicles are known for. The crossover is described as having a refined, smooth drive, and it boasts a towing capacity of up to 680 kg.
