Chery’s sub-brand Jetour has officially unveiled images of its upcoming Shanhai L7 Plus, a plug-in hybrid SUV that is essentially a larger and more advanced version of the existing Shanhai L7 model. This new SUV is set to enter the Chinese market in the second half of August, aiming to offer more space, enhanced features, and improved hybrid performance. The L7 Plus is tailored to meet the needs of growing families and tech-savvy consumers who demand comfort, utility, and innovation in a single package.

Visually, the Shanhai L7 Plus distinguishes itself from the standard L7 with several exterior upgrades. Notable changes include redesigned headlights and taillights, along with sleek, semi-hidden door handles that contribute to a more refined and modern aesthetic. Beyond appearance, the L7 Plus also enhances its technology suite with Chery’s Falcon 500 advanced driving assistance system. This system supports highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot), urban memory-based NOA, and intelligent parking assistance, reflecting a strong emphasis on semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

In terms of dimensions, the L7 Plus measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,705 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Compared to the regular Shanhai L7, it is 61 mm longer, 30 mm wider, and 15 mm lower, while the wheelbase extends by 75 mm. These changes provide a more spacious cabin, especially beneficial for passengers in the second and third rows. Designed as a 7-seater by default, the SUV offers flexible seating configurations. Each seat is electrically adjustable, and when fully folded, they can transform the interior into a nearly three-meter-long sleeping space—ideal for long road trips or camping. Additionally, by folding down the third-row seats, users can switch to a five-seat layout and increase cargo capacity from 658 liters to 1,708 liters.

The interior boasts a modern dual-tone color scheme and comes equipped with a three-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch central control screen. This floating touchscreen can rotate 10 degrees to the left or right, providing better accessibility to both the driver and front passenger. The L7 Plus also includes premium amenities such as ambient lighting, added under-console storage, multiple cupholders, wireless charging pads, a 12-speaker sound system, a refrigerator, and an integrated AI-powered voice assistant.

Under the hood, the plug-in hybrid system is composed of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (model SQRH4J15) paired with an electric motor. The system is supported by a sizable 32.659 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The gasoline engine delivers 154 horsepower, but when combined with the electric motor, the total system output reaches an impressive 355 horsepower and 530 Nm of torque. The L7 Plus offers a pure electric range of 220 km (based on the CLTC cycle) and a total combined range of up to 1,500 km—making it a highly practical choice for both urban and long-distance driving.

Although official pricing for the L7 Plus has not been disclosed, it is expected to be competitively positioned, likely falling near the existing Shanhai L7’s price range of approximately $18,500 to $22,800. This places it in an attractive bracket for buyers seeking a well-rounded and feature-rich hybrid SUV.
