Ford Is Celebrating 60 Years of Automotive Legacy With Mustang

Six decades ago, spanning a timeline of 11 presidential administrations, marked by numerous fuel shortages and economic crises, Ford introduced the iconic Mustang at the New York World’s Fair. In commemoration of this significant milestone, Ford has crafted a special anniversary package for the 2024 model, drawing inspiration from the original Mustang's timeless design.

Available for both coupes and convertible variants, this anniversary package pays homage to the classic Mustang with a range of nostalgic details. Notable features include newly designed 20-inch wheels in Dark Gravity Gray with machined accents and Vermillion Red, adorned with stamped aluminum center caps. Additionally, anniversary badges grace the fenders and trunk, while a serialized 60th-anniversary plaque adorns the instrument panel, adding a touch of exclusivity.

Adding to the vintage charm are retro side graphics available in Iconic Silver or Vermillion Red, complemented by a revamped mesh grille and standard smoked headlights reminiscent of the Mustang Nite Pony package. For those seeking a modern interpretation of classic aesthetics, the car can be ordered in Race Red or Vapor Blue. Alternatively, enthusiasts can fully immerse themselves in the 1960s vibe by opting for Wimbledon White, complete with body-color mirror caps for white models, while red and blue models receive silver caps reminiscent of the chrome mirrors found on the original Mustang.

While the original Mustang offered both inline six-cylinder and V8 powertrains, Ford has reserved the anniversary kit exclusively for V8-powered versions of the current model. The package is limited to GT Premium Mustangs, offering buyers the choice between manual and automatic transmissions to suit their preferences.

In a nod to the Mustang's inaugural year, Ford has made the package available to only 1,965 buyers, a direct reference to the official first model year of the Mustang. However, purists may argue that the Mustang made its debut midway through the 1964 model year as a 1964.5, thus technically marking the first full model year.
