Mahindra has unveiled the XUV 3XO, a new compact SUV for the Indian market, succeeding the XUV300. Although it boasts updated exterior and interior designs, it still shares its foundation with the SsangYong Tivoli, which has been around since 2015, albeit with significant improvements.

The XUV 3XO utilizes the same platform as its predecessor, the XUV300, which was essentially the Indian counterpart of the SsangYong Tivoli. It offers two engine options: a turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine with either 110 or 129 horsepower, and a 1.5-liter turbodiesel engine producing 115 horsepower. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a six-speed torque converter automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, there are plans to introduce an electric version of the SUV in the future.

Externally, the XUV 3XO receives a significant facelift compared to the outgoing XUV300, maintaining similar proportions and greenhouse design. The redesigned front end features vertically-stacked LED headlights and a more sculpted bumper, while the profile remains largely unchanged, with added plastic cladding around the wheel arches and new alloy wheels. The rear end has also been updated with full-width LED taillights and a rugged bumper design.

Inside, the XUV 3XO gets a much-needed refresh, with a highlight being the new 10.25-inch free-standing infotainment touchscreen paired with a large digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Although the glossy black trim may seem outdated, material quality has reportedly been improved compared to the previous model.

High-spec variants of the XUV 3XO come with features like a sunroof, a wireless charging pad, a seven-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, claimed to be the most advanced in its segment. In terms of practicality, Mahindra has managed to increase cargo capacity from 257 liters to 295 liters, despite maintaining the same footprint.

The XUV 3XO is now available in India, with prices ranging from Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh which is equivalent to $8,970-18,550. This positions it competitively against rivals like the Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon, underscoring Mahindra's commitment to offering value-for-money options in the market.
