Introduction of Great Wall Motor's Latest SUV, Haval H9

Great Wall Motor's latest offering, the Haval H9, has made its debut at dealerships across China, accompanied by a flurry of details unveiled by the automaker at the prestigious Beijing Auto Show. This unveiling brought forth key information including the official release date and pricing for the much-anticipated vehicle.

Visually, the Haval H9 presents a striking square-bodied design, characterized by a prominent front grille adorned with robust horizontal chrome strips, square-shaped headlights, an exterior rear spare tire, and longitudinally positioned rectangular taillights flanking the rear. The tailgate opens sideways, adding to the vehicle's rugged charm. The gasoline variants boast 17, 18, or 19-inch rims, while the diesel counterparts are fitted with 18-inch rims. Customers are presented with a choice of four exterior colors: Smoke White, Tile Black, Slate Gray, and Spring Mountain Green.

Positioned as a formidable off-road SUV, the Haval H9 impresses with its dimensions; measuring 4950 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, 1930 mm in height, and a wheelbase spanning 2850 mm. It exhibits a towing capacity of up to 2500 kg and features roof racks capable of carrying a static load of 75 kg, extending over 2057 mm. The electric side step, spanning 1903 mm, offers convenient automatic control.

Interior glimpses reveal a modern cockpit featuring a prominent floating central control screen and a rectangular LCD instrument panel. The center console is replete with physical buttons, a lever, rotary knob, and storage compartment, although official interior specifications remain undisclosed, heightening anticipation for prospective buyers.

Powering the Haval H9 is a 2.0T gasoline engine generating a robust 224 hp and peak torque of 385 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, a variant powered by a 2.4T diesel engine producing 186 hp and 480 Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, has been introduced. The inclusion of the BorgWarner Torque-On-Demand four-wheel-drive system and three differential locks, positioned in the front, middle, and rear, ensures formidable off-road capabilities.

As for pricing, the current Haval H9 ranges between 214,800 to 279,800 yuan ($29,700 to $38,600), providing consumers with a diverse range of options to suit their preferences and budgetary considerations. With its robust design, advanced features, and potent performance capabilities, the new Haval H9 is poised to carve a significant presence in the competitive SUV market, promising thrilling adventures both on and off the road.
