Coachmen Teases $150K All-Electric RVEX Camper Van

Coachmen introduces a new product, its first full EV RV. The company has sparked excitement by teasing a fully electric Class B RV, known as the RVEX. With over sixty years of history in the American RV market, Coachmen’s reputation alone makes this reveal noteworthy. The announcement came in the form of a short YouTube video and a couple of Facebook posts, leaving fans intrigued but with very few concrete details.

What we do know is that the RVEX will be a Class B camper van. That classification gives us a rough idea of its size, mobility, and living space, but also raises plenty of unanswered questions about design and performance. The biggest mystery surrounds the chassis. Traditional Class B vans are often built on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ram ProMaster, or Ford Transit platforms, but the silhouette shown in the teaser doesn’t quite match those familiar shapes. One strong candidate is GM’s Chevrolet BrightDrop EV van, which has already been used by other manufacturers, including Grounded EVs, to develop electric campers. Still, until Coachmen confirms it, the base vehicle remains speculation.

Hints about the RVEX’s exterior features are minimal. However, one notable detail is the inclusion of a 1,000-watt solar array on the roof, which suggests an emphasis on off-grid capability. Beyond that, it’s safe to assume there will be integrated storage bays, hookups for water and electricity, and perhaps additional modular options to extend its functionality.

While Coachmen hasn’t formally unveiled the interior, the RVEX was quietly displayed at the recent Elkhart Extravaganza, and RV News managed to capture a distant photo. From what’s visible, the inside appears sleek and modern, designed to appeal to today’s RV enthusiasts. At the rear, a split-bench seating arrangement can be converted into a bed, making the layout suitable for two adults, and possibly a child. Toward the front, the left side hosts a compact bathroom, while the right side features a galley kitchen block. Overhead cabinetry and subtle lighting add to the clean, functional atmosphere.

Another clever element is the rear hatch and tailgate, which open wide to connect the living space with the outdoors. This setup not only enhances ventilation and views but also makes it easy to load recreational gear such as e-bikes or kayaks.

Price remains another mystery, though Coachmen hinted at a target range of around $150,000. While that places the RVEX above the average couple’s budget, it reflects the premium cost of electric mobility in today’s RV industry.
