BMW X3 Gets a Sharp Visual Upgrade From AC Schnitzer

AC Schnitzer, the renowned BMW tuning specialist, has once again worked its magic, this time on the all-new, fourth-generation BMW X3. While BMW has yet to release a full-fledged M version of this SUV, AC Schnitzer has stepped in to give the luxury vehicle a sportier, more dynamic edge. The upgrades focus primarily on aesthetics, enhancing both the exterior and interior to give the X3 a more commanding presence without compromising its sophisticated appeal.

The exterior changes begin at the front, where AC Schnitzer has opted not to replace BMW's distinctive oversized kidney grilles. Instead, the tuning company has refined the X3’s look with the addition of a sleek front splitter. This subtle change helps streamline the front end, giving it a cleaner, more aggressive stance. On the sides, newly designed side skirts add to the SUV's athletic profile, providing a more grounded appearance. Around the back, a tastefully designed roof-mounted rear wing adds a touch of drama. It extends just far enough to catch the eye, yet it avoids being overly flashy or excessive.

One of the most notable offerings from AC Schnitzer is the array of wheel options available. Customers can choose from a range of nine different designs, with sizes that include 19-inch, 21-inch, and 22-inch wheels. For those who want to maximize their SUV’s visual impact, 10 mm wheel spacers are also available for all four corners, ensuring the wheels fill out the arches more completely. To complement the aggressive wheel setup, AC Schnitzer has developed dedicated lowering springs for several X3 variants, including the 20 xDrive, 20d xDrive, 40d xDrive, and M50 xDrive. These springs lower the ride height by 25 mm, further improving the stance and potentially enhancing handling.

Inside, the modifications are modest but tasteful. Enhancements are limited to a new aluminum footrest and a redesigned keyholder, indicating that AC Schnitzer is likely planning further interior and performance upgrades in the future. At present, there are no updates to the powertrain or engine tuning, but that may change as the model becomes more established in the market.

These visual and functional upgrades don’t come cheap. The lowering springs alone cost up to €539, while the complete wheel and tire package can reach as much as €5,590. The front splitter is priced at €1,790, side skirts at €790, and the rear wing at €519. Though these enhancements are an investment, they offer a unique opportunity for BMW enthusiasts to distinguish their X3 from the standard lineup and add a personalized, performance-inspired touch.
