The South American Fiat Fastback with a 183-HP engine and a sportier chassis arrangement was unveiled under the Scorpion name. Although there is still a modest Fiat flag badge on the grille, the coupe-SUV has Abarth badging. One and a half years after the mechanically similar Abarth Pulse, the Abarth Fastback joins the performance brand's Brazilian portfolio.
Under the hood is a Turbo 270 powerplant, which is oddly also offered as a limited edition "powered by Abarth" version of the Fiat Fastback. The 1.3-liter gasoline engine with turbocharger generates 270 Nm of torque and 183 horsepower. The coupe-SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds thanks to a 6-speed automated transmission that transfers all of the power to the front axle.
Body-colored plastic cladding, a piece of red trim above the splitter, a black spoiler, matching mirror caps, and chrome-finished twin exhaust pipes are the only exterior changes from the Fiat counterpart. There's also a new set of black BBS-style 18-inch alloy wheels with red accents, which look undersized for the vehicle's size.
There's red stitching around the cabin, a simulated carbon-fiber trim on the dashboard, and plenty of Abarth badges. The standard 10.1-inch free-standing infotainment display is coupled with a digital instrument cluster and a wireless charging pad.
A cargo area-mounted subwoofer, an engine K&N sports filter, Abarth puddle lights, and white Scorpion stickers are among the optional options. The new "Poison" driving mode is supposed to provide unique graphics on the digital instrument cluster and enhance the powertrain's and gearbox's responsiveness.
The coupe-SUV has a sportier sound thanks to the version-specific dual exhaust pipes. Compared to the standard Fiat Fastback, the Abarth Fastback has a sportier suspension arrangement that includes larger front and rear stabilizers, new springs, and shock absorbers. The rear axle is also more robust.
In the Brazilian market, the Abarth Fastback can already be ordered for as little as $31,906. In contrast, the starting price of the normal Fiat Fastback is $24,310, which makes it seem like a great deal.
