2022 Shelby Mustang GT500 Price Has Increased

The base price of the 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has increased to $74,555. It's a $4,255 rise over the previous year. The ultimate Mustang had an MSRP of $70,300 when it first came out, omitting the mandatory $2,600 gas guzzler tax and a $1,195 destination and delivery cost, bringing the total to $74,095. However, before the same $2,600 gas guzzler cost and $1,195 destination fee, the MSRP has risen to $73,465 dollars.

Although that's a significant price difference, we've heard several reports of outrageous dealership markups for the muscular Shelby when it first appeared on sale.

We learned in August 2020 that another dealer was charging over $200,000 for a new Shelby. A cursory search today indicates that the markups have faded but are still present.

The 2022 Mustang GT500, on the other hand, has received no substantial changes, albeit the Carbon Fiber Handling Package is no longer available. This $10,000 package lay in between the $1,500 Handling Pack and the $18,500 Carbon Fiber Track Pack. 20-inch black-painted carbon fiber wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, a catch can, gurney flap, splitter wickers, and a wheel lock kit were among the features.

The Carbon Fiber Track Pack adds 20-inch exposed carbon fiber wheels, a carbon instrument cluster, a carbon rear wing, Recaro leather seats, a rear seat deletion, and Michelin Pilot Cup Sport 2 tires with 305/30 front and 315/30 rear measurements.

The GT500 Heritage Edition will be available in 2022, which is a significant shift. The color style on this model is a special Brittany Blue with Wimbledon White vinyl racing stripes. Hand-painted racing stripes are also available, but they aren't cheap at $12,140.

If 760 horsepower isn't enough, Shelby American is bringing back the GT500KR with 900 horsepower (671 kW). Only 225 GT500s will be built in 2022, with an extra 60 KR upfits available to current 2020 or 2021 GT500 owners.
