Zeekr, initially launched by Geely in 2021 as a high-end battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand, has made a strategic pivot toward plug-in hybrids this year. The Zeekr 9X marks the brand’s first PHEV offering and debuted for purchase on September 29. This full-size SUV measures 5,239 mm in length, 2,029 mm in width, and 1,819 mm in height, with a 3,169 mm wheelbase. For comparison, it is 32 mm longer, 75 mm wider, and 4 mm lower than the Mercedes-Benz GLS, emphasizing its substantial presence. The exterior design features large C-shaped LED headlights, a prominent grille with active air intake, conventional door handles, and a circular taillight arrangement, giving the 9X a distinctive yet refined look.

The Zeekr 9X comes in five body color options: black, white, silver, gray, and purple. It rides on 22-inch wheels with multiple design choices. Around the body, up to five LiDAR sensors enhance its intelligent driving capabilities. The dual-chamber air suspension with dual-valve continuous damping control allows for a variable ride height ranging from 178 mm to 288 mm, depending on driving conditions. Advanced safety features include a 48V active stabilizer bar that minimizes body roll during turns and can lift one side to reduce collision risk. The system also supports safe driving over open wells and maintaining trajectory after a tire puncture at speeds up to 120 km/h.

Inside, the Zeekr 9X seats six passengers in a 2+2+2 layout with interior color combinations of deep blue, beige, and brown. The center console features dual 16-inch screens, though a single 16-inch display is available for a modest discount. The cabin also includes a 47-inch augmented reality head-up display, and rear passengers enjoy a 17-inch 3K ceiling display with a 3-millisecond response time and five adjustable angles. Luxury options include a folding table for the right second-row passenger, four-way lumbar support with 22-point massage for front and second-row seats, privacy sunshades, 180-degree rotating second-row seats, power-operated doors, and an AI voice assistant named Eva.

On the technology side, the entry-level Zeekr 9X is equipped with the G-Pilot H7 driver-assistance system, a single LiDAR sensor, and an Nvidia Thor-U chip delivering 700 TOPS. The top-trim version includes five LiDAR sensors, dual Nvidia Thor-U SoCs for 1,400 TOPS, and is “L3-ready,” offering point-to-point Navigate on Autopilot and self-parking, along with Automatic Emergency Steering capable of avoiding collisions at 130 km/h.

The powertrain options vary: the base Max model pairs a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine with two electric motors, producing 885 hp, a 55 kWh battery for 300 km electric range, and a total PHEV range of 1,200 km. A higher variant has a 70 kWh battery, offering 380 km EV range and a total range of 1,250 km. The top-trim 9X features three electric motors delivering 1,381 hp, 355 km electric range, and a combined range of 1,165 km, achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. Advanced 6C charging with a 900V system allows the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in 8 minutes and 21 seconds, while the ICE can recharge the battery from 30% to 80% within 90 minutes even on highways at 120 km/h.

The Zeekr 9X is offered in four trims. The entry-level Max model, featuring the G-Pilot H7 and 4WD system, is priced at $65,310. The Ultra trim, which adds enhanced rear seating comfort and privacy sunshades, is priced at $68,110, catering to buyers seeking a more luxurious in-cabin experience.
