Xiaomi Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. has announced a significant safety recall involving its SU7 Standard Edition electric vehicles, marking one of the company’s largest recalls since entering the EV market. The recall affects a total of 116,887 vehicles that were produced over an 18-month period, specifically between February 6, 2024, and August 30, 2025. Details of the action were officially filed with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) on September 19, 2025.
According to the filing, the recall has been divided into two groups, each with its own registration number under SAMR’s system. The first group, listed as Recall number S2025M0149I, applies to models identified with the codes XMA7000MBEVR2 and XMA7000MBEVR2, accounting for 98,462 vehicles. The second group, under Recall number S2025M0150I, covers BJ7000MBEVR2 models, totaling an additional 18,425 units. Combined, these two categories bring the total to nearly 117,000 vehicles, underlining the scale of the campaign.
Xiaomi has indicated that the issue can be resolved without requiring owners to bring their vehicles to service centers. Instead, the company will implement an over-the-air (OTA) software update, allowing affected SU7s to receive the necessary fix remotely. This method is not only convenient for owners but also reflects the growing use of digital solutions in modern vehicle maintenance. Importantly, the updates will be provided at no cost to customers.
To ensure clear communication, Xiaomi will be reaching out to affected drivers through multiple channels. Notifications will be sent via text messages and through Xiaomi’s official mobile application, ensuring that owners are aware of the recall and the upcoming OTA updates. Customers who need further clarification or assistance can also contact Xiaomi’s dedicated customer hotline at 400-182-6888.
Additionally, detailed information about the recall has been made available through official government resources. The SAMR Recall Center website (accessible at www.samrdprc.org.cn and www.recall.org.cn) provides official listings and guidance for affected owners. For those who prefer mobile platforms, updates and instructions are also being shared through the official SAMR WeChat account (SAMRDPRC).
The SU7 is a flagship product for Xiaomi in its expanding automotive venture, and this large-scale recall demonstrates the company’s commitment to regulatory compliance and consumer safety. By handling the fix through OTA technology, Xiaomi is minimizing disruption for customers while addressing the issue swiftly.
Owners are strongly encouraged to ensure their contact details are up to date in Xiaomi’s system so that they do not miss recall notifications. Checking official recall channels regularly can also help drivers stay informed and take advantage of the free software update as soon as it becomes available.
