The Skoda Kamiq, a compact SUV from the Czech automaker, is once again available in Australia for under $30,000 drive-away. This comes less than a year after a newer, more expensive version pushed the price of entry above that threshold. Skoda Australia has announced that white-painted units of the Model Year 2024 (MY24) Kamiq 85TSI Select are being offered at a special promotional price of $29,990 drive-away. This offer is valid until either all available units are sold or until September 30, 2025 — whichever happens first.
This limited-time promotion makes the Kamiq the most affordable European-built SUV currently available in Australia, once on-road costs are factored in. Normally, the MY24 Kamiq 85TSI Select has a drive-away price of $33,990, putting it in the same price bracket as the closely related Scala 85TSI Select hatchback. In contrast, the smaller Skoda Fabia 85TSI Select hatchback continues to be listed at $29,990 drive-away, although it offers more flexibility in terms of exterior color options.
While the Fabia at this price allows buyers to choose from a wider range of colors, including most hues at no additional charge (except Velvet Red Metallic, which costs $500 extra), the Kamiq deal is limited to two color choices: Candy White and Moon White. This means that anyone wanting a Kamiq for under $30,000 will need to be happy with one of those two shades.
This isn’t the first time the Kamiq has been offered at such a price. In mid-2024, a limited number of pre-facelift “Run-Out” editions were also sold for \$29,990 drive-away to clear out older inventory. Once the updated model arrived, pricing for the Select variant jumped to $33,990. When the Kamiq first launched in Australia in late 2020, the automatic 85TSI version also started at $29,990 drive-away. However, due to global supply chain disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was temporarily removed from the lineup before reappearing in 2022 at a much steeper price of $37,990 with no significant additional features.
Now, with the new promotion, the Kamiq is competitively positioned against several budget-friendly Chinese-made SUVs, such as the MG ZS Essence (non-turbo), GWM Haval Jolion Lux, and Chery Omoda C5 Urban. Despite its European origins, the Kamiq now matches these rivals on price, making it a compelling option in the entry-level SUV segment. That said, other models like the Chery Tiggo 4, Hyundai Venue, and Mitsubishi ASX still offer lower price points.
The Skoda Kamiq 85TSI Select offers solid standard equipment for its price. Included features are 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-C ports, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, and push-button start. Powering the vehicle is a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 85kW and 200Nm. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive layout. Fuel consumption is rated at an efficient 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres, further enhancing its value as a city-friendly, economical SUV.
