Renault has officially confirmed that its all-new Scenic E-Tech electric SUV will make its debut in Australia toward the end of 2025, marking the return of a familiar nameplate with a completely new identity. The Scenic has a long history in Australia, having been sold between 2001 and 2010 as a compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), available in both five- and seven-seat configurations. This time, however, Renault is reinventing the model for the modern era, transforming it from a family-oriented people mover into a sleek, five-seat, fully electric medium-sized SUV designed for today’s environmentally conscious drivers. While pricing and detailed specifications are yet to be announced, Renault has promised to release full information closer to its local launch date.

The Scenic E-Tech embodies a striking new design language that emphasizes both aerodynamic efficiency and practicality. It measures 4,470mm in length, 1,864mm in width, and 1,565mm in height, riding on a 2,785mm wheelbase that contributes to spacious interior proportions. The model’s practicality remains one of its key strengths, as evidenced by its 542-litre boot capacity—a significant improvement over other models in Renault’s electric lineup. For comparison, the Megane E-Tech offers 440 litres, while the larger Koleos SUV provides 458 litres, making the new Scenic one of the most accommodating EVs in its segment.

Renault has confirmed that the Australian market will receive two main versions of the Scenic E-Tech: the Standard Range and the Long Range. The Standard Range variant will feature a 60kWh battery pack, paired with a single front-mounted electric motor that produces 125kW of power and 280Nm of torque. This setup delivers a WLTP-rated range of up to 430 kilometres, making it a practical option for urban and suburban drivers alike.

For customers seeking extended range and performance, Renault will offer the Long Range version, which steps up to a larger 87kWh battery. This model retains the single-motor, front-wheel-drive configuration but increases output to 160kW and 300Nm, offering a more dynamic driving experience. Thanks to the higher-capacity battery, the Long Range model achieves an impressive 625km of WLTP range, positioning it among the most efficient EVs in its class.

Performance-wise, the Long Range model accelerates from 0–100km/h in just 7.9 seconds, slightly quicker than the 8.6-second figure for the Standard Range. Charging capability is another highlight: the 87kWh battery supports DC fast charging up to 150kW, while the 60kWh version charges at up to 130kW on compatible stations.

Once it arrives, the Scenic E-Tech will slot above the Megane E-Tech in Renault’s local lineup, targeting drivers looking for more space, range, and versatility in a modern electric SUV package.
