Lightweight, mid-engine sports cars that balance agility, performance, and affordability are a rare breed in today’s market, but the Alpine A110 has proudly carried that torch since its reintroduction in 2017. Revered by enthusiasts for its purity and driving engagement, this compact French sports car has become a symbol of precision engineering and minimalism in an era dominated by heavy, high-powered machines. However, its celebrated run is nearing its conclusion. Alpine has officially announced that production of the current A110 will soon come to an end, marking the close of a remarkable chapter in the company’s modern history.
The final units of the A110 will be produced at Alpine’s historic Dieppe Jean Rédélé plant, a site synonymous with the brand’s motorsport heritage. The facility will assemble only 1,750 more examples before shutting down production of this generation, including just 50 highly exclusive A110 R 70 models. When production ceases around mid-2026, Alpine will have built close to 30,000 units of the second-generation A110—an impressive milestone for such a niche, enthusiast-focused car.
Although it’s bittersweet to bid farewell to the current A110, Alpine isn’t saying goodbye to the nameplate. In fact, the French manufacturer has confirmed that an all-new, third-generation A110 will debut next year. The upcoming model will represent a major evolution, transitioning from gasoline power to full electrification. Built on the brand’s newly developed Alpine Performance Platform (APP), the next A110 promises to be a “true electric sports car,” designed to preserve the spirit of the original while embracing the performance potential of electric propulsion.
The existing A110 lineup currently consists of three distinct versions: the base A110, the A110 GTS, and the track-focused A110 R 70. The entry-level model, priced from €66,900 in France, is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 248 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and weighs just 1,102 kilograms—testament to Alpine’s commitment to lightweight engineering.
Stepping up to the €79,900 A110 GTS brings a boost in performance, with 296 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque. This enhanced output cuts the 0–100 km/h time to 4.2 seconds and increases top speed to an impressive 274 km/h. The GTS also features a sport-tuned suspension, an active exhaust system, and 18-inch forged wheels for improved dynamics and aesthetics.
Crowning the lineup is the limited-edition A110 R 70, introduced to commemorate Alpine’s 70th anniversary. Priced at €122,900 and limited to just 770 units, this extreme variant is distinguished by extensive use of carbon fiber on the hood, roof, wheels, and rear spoiler. Lightweight, exclusive, and track-ready, it serves as the ultimate send-off for one of the most beloved modern sports cars before Alpine’s next electric era begins.
