The V37-generation Nissan Skyline continues to hold its place as the brand’s flagship premium sports sedan in Japan, but its time is nearing an end. Before it bows out, Nissan is preparing a final farewell in the form of a special, limited-production edition known as the Skyline 400R Limited, set to debut in 2026. This new version serves as both a tribute and an evolution of the long-running model, which shares its foundation with the Infiniti Q50 that was once sold in the United States. Production will be restricted to just 400 units, emphasizing its exclusivity and appeal to collectors. The Limited edition features carbon fiber enhancements, wider tires, and a revised chassis setup, all intended to deliver sharper handling and a more engaging driving experience.
Positioned as a refined upgrade of the existing 400R, the new Limited trim slots just below the more extreme 400R Nismo in Nissan’s domestic performance lineup. While it forgoes the full Nismo body kit, the 400R Limited introduces carbon fiber mirror caps, a subtle rear spoiler, and exclusive badging that identifies it as a final-edition model. These understated exterior additions balance elegance with performance, giving the sedan a distinct but sophisticated presence.
Inside the cabin, the enhancements continue. The interior now features carbon-fiber accents across the center console and a numbered “Tuned by NMC” plaque, reinforcing its special status within the Skyline family. Attention to performance is also reflected in the upgraded 19-inch alloy wheels, now wrapped in wider Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 tires for improved grip. Nissan engineers have tuned the suspension with a 4% increase in the front spring rate and a 44% stiffer rear stabilizer bar, resulting in greater cornering precision and stability. To complement these chassis improvements, the braking system has been enhanced with highly fade-resistant brake pads, allowing the car to perform more consistently under demanding driving conditions.
Under the hood, the Skyline 400R Limited retains the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine shared with both the standard 400R and the Nissan Z sports car. It produces 400 horsepower, slightly less than the 414 hp found in the 400R Nismo variant. Power continues to be directed to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission, maintaining the car’s traditional sporty rear-drive character.
Aesthetically, the Limited edition introduces a new Wangan Blue paint option, a deep, metallic shade that subtly changes tone under different lighting conditions. This color, typically reserved for Nissan’s “special sports cars,” adds a sense of prestige and visual drama.
For 2026, Nissan has also upgraded the Skyline’s safety features to meet new regulatory standards. The automatic emergency braking system now offers improved detection of pedestrians and cyclists, enhancing driver confidence in urban settings. In contrast to many of Japan’s limited-edition performance models—often sold via lottery—Nissan will make the Skyline 400R Limited available on a first-come, first-served basis, allowing dedicated enthusiasts a fairer chance to own one.
Pricing for the 2026 Skyline 400R Limited is set at $45,400, representing a modest $2,900 premium over the standard 400R. With its mix of performance tuning, exclusive design cues, and symbolic importance as one of the last Skylines of its generation, this special edition marks the final chapter in a legendary Japanese performance lineage.
