Mercedes Concept EQT, A New T-Class People Mover

Author: |

The Concept EQT from Mercedes-Benz is a major hint at the future T-Class people mover. This small people mover is battery-powered, proving that Mercedes's EQ-badged EV technology isn't limited to luxury sedans and SUVs.

It's a sleek compact van with a glitzy grille that features several illuminated three-pointed stars, sharp headlights, and a light-up grille frame that we don't want to see on the production model. The same can be said for the 21-inch alloy wheels and, probably, the cool electronic pop-out door handles for both the front and sliding rear doors.

The zero-emissions van has a full-width LED light bar in the rear, where the generously sized tailgate allows for quick cargo maneuvering. The rear window, like the rest of the greenhouse, is very wide and increases visibility. A huge panoramic sunroof, speaking of glass surfaces, can make the cabin feel light and airy. The Mercedes EQT is 4945 millimeters long, 1863 millimeters high, and 1826 millimeters thick.

The leather-wrapped cabin, which includes the MBUX infotainment system, is spacious enough to fit an electric long-board in the cargo compartment. If more space is needed, the third row of seats may be folded or eliminated altogether.

Although no technical details have been released, the production-ready EQT is being twinned with the Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric. As a result, we anticipate an electric motor with 101 horsepower and 245 Newton-meters of torque, as well as a 45-kWh battery pack with a WLTP-certified range of 265 kilometers.

Both the Citan and eCitan and the T-Class/EQT will be publicly unveiled later in 2021, along with a related Nissan variant.
