Li Auto i8 Interior Leaks Ahead of July 2025 Launch

Author: |

The interior of the Li Auto i8 electric crossover has finally been revealed in China, offering the public its first clear look at the cabin of the brand’s upcoming pure-electric SUV. Although it stays true to Li Auto’s familiar interior design philosophy—with its characteristic dual-screen arrangement—the i8 introduces a number of noteworthy details that help distinguish it from the company’s existing models. Scheduled to reach the Chinese market in July 2025, the i8 will serve as Li Auto’s first fully electric SUV. Its core specifications became known earlier when the model applied for regulatory approval in April, but until now, the interior remained unseen. That changed on May 8, when leaked spy photos surfaced online, uncovering the cabin layout for the first time.

At a glance, the interior may seem similar to that of Li Auto’s current lineup. The vehicle features a pair of 15.7-inch displays mounted side-by-side in the central area of the dashboard, forming a large digital panel for infotainment and passenger use. As with the brand’s other models, the i8 does not include a traditional instrument cluster. Instead, key driving information is projected onto the windshield through a head-up display, helping maintain a clean and minimalist dashboard design. The gear selector is positioned behind a D-shaped steering wheel with a flat bottom, continuing the modern ergonomic feel.

The center console includes two wireless charging pads for smartphones, along with a pair of cup holders placed within easy reach. Beneath this console lies a wide storage area designed to hold bags, small devices, or personal items. One of the more distinctive elements inside the i8 is the design of its A-pillars. They appear significantly thicker than usual, which may have some impact on forward visibility. Interestingly, Li Auto has integrated both a driver monitoring camera and a speaker into the A-pillars, which likely contributes to their increased width. Information provided by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology confirms that the i8 will offer a six-seat cabin arranged in a 2+2+2 layout. The model also has a curb weight of 2,610 kilograms.

In terms of exterior dimensions, the Li Auto i8 qualifies as a large electric crossover. It measures 5,085 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in height, while its wheelbase spans 3,050 mm. Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing a combined maximum output of 536 horsepower. The front electric motor delivers 201 hp on its own, while the rear motor contributes 335 hp, allowing the vehicle to reach a top speed of 180 km/h.

The i8 is equipped with a ternary NMC battery that supports 5C ultra-fast charging. Li Auto previously stated that the crossover has undergone extensive durability and performance testing, completing two full winter and two full summer test cycles across 300 cities in China. Cumulatively, the i8’s development fleet has accumulated over 8 million kilometers of testing mileage. The model is expected to launch in China this July with an estimated starting price of approximately $54,400.
