BYD has officially introduced the 2026 Seal 06 DM-i, a new mid-size sedan that joins the company’s expanding plug-in hybrid lineup. The model launches with two configurations, priced at $13,600 and $15,000, positioning it as an affordable yet advanced option within the segment.

The Seal 06 DM-i shares its underlying architecture with the Qin L, but it distinguishes itself through BYD’s newest “Ocean Series” styling direction. At the front, the car features a closed-off upper grille paired with a wider, more aggressive lower air intake, giving it a clean but dynamic appearance. The rear continues the modern theme with a full-width taillight assembly. On each side of the light bar, teardrop-shaped elements provide visual emphasis, and the darker lower bumper adds a sense of sportiness and depth to the overall design. As for size, the sedan is 4,830 millimetres long, 1,875 millimetres wide, and 1,495 millimetres tall, while riding on a 2,790-millimetre wheelbase. These proportions put it right in the heart of the mid-size category, offering a balanced mix of cabin space and good road presence.

Inside the cabin, the Seal 06 DM-i continues the coastal-inspired aesthetic found throughout the Ocean Series family. Soft curves highlight the door panels and the seating areas, creating a flowing, unified look throughout the interior. Technology takes centre stage thanks to a full digital instrument cluster and a large 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen positioned in the middle of the dashboard. The centre console adopts a circular layout, featuring a small, elegant toggle-type gear selector surrounded by neatly arranged buttons for essential vehicle functions. Altogether, the interior aims to deliver a blend of modern tech, visual harmony, and ergonomic simplicity.

Powering the Seal 06 DM-i is BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid setup, which integrates a 1.5-litre combustion engine with an efficient electric motor. The engine itself produces a maximum of 74 kilowatts and generates 126 N·m of torque. Paired with it is an electric motor capable of delivering 218 horsepower, giving the car strong low-end response and smooth power delivery. The hybrid system allows the vehicle to travel up to 128 kilometres on pure electric power alone, making it suitable for daily commuting with minimal fuel usage. Beyond electric-only driving, the combination of the petrol engine and motor also provides balanced performance for longer trips.

Overall, the 2026 BYD Seal 06 DM-i arrives as a competitively priced mid-size hybrid sedan that incorporates the company’s latest design philosophy, advanced digital interior, and upgraded fifth-generation DM hybrid technology. With its modern aesthetics, practical dimensions, and impressive electric range, it aims to appeal to buyers seeking a stylish and efficient plug-in hybrid at an accessible price point.
