Jeep Is Killing More Manual Transmissions

Author: |

A new study revealed that from 327 car brands only 41 of them still offering manual transmissions. It means that only 13 percent of cars are available with manual gear. The number is decreasing as Honda announced that it will not offer a manual transmission on Fit, Civic Coupe, and Accord. However, Honda is not alone, because Jeep also revealed that it is not offering the stitch shift option on 2021 Compass anymore.

The 2021 Jeep Compass is will only come with 6-speed and 9-speed transmission. For now, the 2020 model Compass is available with 6-speed manual gearbox on the entry-level trim called Sport.

Jeep said that most of the SUV buyers don't go for the manual option and the demand for the manual gear is not that much.

If Jeep drops the stick shift, the only small CUV in the U.S market which offers a manual transmission option will be Subaru Crosstrek.
