Ferrari SF90 Stradale has now reached the end of its production. Introduced to the world just a couple of years ago, the SF90 Stradale was seen as a formidable competitor to Ferrari’s own LaFerrari. Five years after its debut, the automaker has announced that it will be retiring this model, marking the end of an era for the supercar.
It feels as though it was just yesterday when Ferrari introduced the exceptional SF90 Stradale, a supercar designed to compete with the LaFerrari hypercar in terms of power and performance. Yet, it has been five years since its debut, and Ferrari has announced that it is time to retire this iconic model.
Ferrari disclosed the decision to phase out the SF90 Stradale during their second-quarter financial report. They indicated that while deliveries of the high-performance SF90 XX Stradale have recently begun, the regular SF90 Stradale and the 812 GTS models are being discontinued. The announcement did not address the status of the SF90 Spider, so it is assumed to continue production for now.
Although the retirement of the SF90 Stradale has not been marked by a grand celebration, Ferrari is already working on a new model to take its place. This upcoming model was spotted undergoing testing in August 2023. Although specific details remain sparse, it is anticipated that the new version might feature an updated version of the SF90’s powertrain. If this is accurate, the new model could retain the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, complemented by a trio of electric motors.
In terms of design, the prototype seen during testing appeared very similar to the SF90 Stradale, though with some modifications. However, it is expected that the final version will incorporate design elements from newer Ferrari models, such as the 296 and 12Cilindri, offering a blend of contemporary aesthetics and advanced engineering.
In addition to the SF90 Stradale, the 812 GTS has also reached the end of its production run. Ferrari noted that deliveries of both the Roma and the 812 Competizione have decreased in the second quarter, as these models approach the end of their life cycles. The discontinuation of the 812 GTS is not unexpected, given that it has been succeeded by the 12Cilindri. As for the Roma, there might be a successor in the works, but information on this potential replacement remains limited.
