All versions of the 2026 GWM Haval Jolion small SUV have received updates aimed at improving fuel efficiency, and the revised model is now available in Australia. According to GWM, enhancements to the petrol-electric hybrid system have reduced combined fuel consumption from 5.1 L/100 km to 4.8 L/100 km, making the SUV more economical than before. For the non-hybrid models, an automatic engine stop/start system has been introduced, complemented by an undertray for improved aerodynamics and upgraded tires, contributing to better overall fuel efficiency.
Specifically, the Haval Jolion Premium and Lux now achieve 6.7 L/100 km, down from 8.1 L/100 km, while the Jolion Vanta sees its fuel consumption drop to 6.5 L/100 km, from 7.5 L/100 km. All versions continue to use standard 91-octane unleaded petrol, ensuring convenient refueling options for Australian drivers. These efficiency improvements are particularly timely, as they will help GWM comply with Australia’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES), which requires automakers to meet annual emissions targets introduced earlier this year.
The Haval Jolion lineup has also seen structural changes. The previous petrol and hybrid Ultra trims have been replaced by new Vanta grades, which now include black alloy wheels and exterior trim for the hybrid model, aligning its appearance with the petrol variant. Inside, the Premium Hybrid features a synthetic leather-look steering wheel, while the Lux Hybrid, Vanta petrol, and Vanta Hybrid models now come with DAB+ digital radio, offering additional convenience and entertainment options for occupants.
In terms of sales, the Haval Jolion has performed strongly in Australia. Year-to-date data shows 14,159 units sold, making it the third-best-selling small SUV, trailing the Hyundai Kona and MG ZS but ahead of competitors like the Chery Tiggo 4 and Toyota Corolla Cross. The updated 2026 Haval Jolion is expected to hit Australian showrooms in the coming weeks, giving buyers access to the latest efficiency and feature enhancements.
Looking ahead, GWM plans to expand the Jolion range with the introduction of the Jolion Max next year. This larger model will offer both plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains, broadening the options for customers seeking more environmentally friendly or higher-capacity vehicles. With improved fuel economy, refreshed features, and strong sales momentum, the 2026 Haval Jolion is positioning itself as a competitive choice in the small SUV segment in Australia.
