Ford’s well-known Mondeo sedan, which ceased production in both Europe and North America, continues its lifecycle exclusively in China, where it remains a strategically important model for the brand. Changan Ford has officially announced that the refreshed version of the Mondeo will be introduced on December 4, shortly after its public premiere at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show, as reported by Auto-home. This new iteration brings a substantial series of design revisions, interior enhancements, and updated technologies specifically tailored to appeal to Chinese consumers, who remain strong supporters of midsize sedans.

The exterior of the updated Mondeo adopts a noticeably sportier and more planted visual presence. Ford has reshaped the front fascia with a wider and lower appearance, incorporating a newly styled grille that still retains hallmark cues from the company’s global design identity. The body profile transitions into a sleek fastback-style silhouette, giving the vehicle a more aerodynamic and dynamic look. To reinforce its contemporary appeal, the model features blacked-out elements across the roof, window surrounds, and side mirror housings. In line with current automotive trends, the traditional door handles have been entirely replaced with flush-mounted hidden handles, offered across every trim level. At the rear, Ford has integrated its distinctive three-bar lighting signature into the taillamp design, ensuring instant recognizability even at night.

Inside the cabin, Ford has dramatically revamped the interior architecture. The standout addition is a sweeping 27-inch 4K display that stretches 1.1 meters across the dashboard, serving as the central interface for the driver and front passenger. All configurations of the sedan come equipped with Qualcomm’s powerful 8155 processor, enabling the latest evolution of the SYNC+ intelligent infotainment system. This system integrates Gaode (Amap) navigation, offers wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, and promises faster, smoother operation thanks to STR quick-start technology, which reduces system boot time. The redesigned interior also features a yacht-inspired floating center console that contributes to the premium feel of the cabin. An upgraded 540-degree panoramic imaging system provides improved safety and visibility.

Changan Ford continues to use a five-seat layout but emphasizes expanded comfort for rear occupants. According to the company, the rear-seat legroom allows passengers approaching one meter in height to sit comfortably, highlighting the sedan’s generous proportions. The nearly one-square-meter panoramic sunroof adds a greater sense of openness, while overall in-cabin storage has increased to 47.5 liters, a noticeable improvement over the earlier 2025 Mondeo, which featured a more conventional dashboard and smaller screens.

Under the hood, the latest Mondeo is powered by an updated 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Output now reaches 261 horsepower and 408 Nm of torque, marking a clear performance boost compared to earlier Chinese-market versions. Although previous 2025 Mondeo variants offered a 1.5T hybrid configuration, the newly unveiled December 4 model focuses exclusively on the enhanced 2.0T powertrain, reinforcing Changan Ford’s commitment to maintaining a strong presence in the midsize internal-combustion sedan category.
