Today, at the Chicago Auto Show, Kia has officially unveiled the North American version of the highly anticipated 2025 Carnival, following its initial debut in Korea last fall. This upcoming release promises an array of enhancements, from advanced technology integration to refreshed aesthetics, along with the introduction of a new hybrid powertrain option, all set to hit the market this summer.
One of the most noticeable updates to the Carnival is its revamped front fascia, signaling a departure from traditional minivan styling in favor of a more crossover-inspired aesthetic. The vehicle now features a broader grille with minimized chrome accents, complemented by amber daytime running lights (DRLs) reminiscent of the Sorento SUV, aligning its design with Kia's modern lineup.
Inside the cabin, Kia has implemented subtle yet impactful changes to enhance the overall driving experience. The dual 12.3-inch displays serving as the instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen remain intact, providing drivers with intuitive access to vehicle functions. However, the structural design supporting these displays has been simplified, while smaller displays assisting with climate control have undergone a similar refinement. Notably, the traditional shift lever has been replaced by a rotary knob, optimizing space and contributing to a sleeker interior layout.
Keeping up with contemporary trends, the Carnival now boasts a voice assistant feature capable of executing various commands, such as adjusting cabin temperature or opening windows, adding a layer of convenience for occupants. Notably, Kia's advanced assistant is equipped with the ability to differentiate between first and second-row passengers, tailoring responses accordingly—a particularly noteworthy feature for models equipped with the VIP Lounge Seat package, such as the SX Prestige edition.
Second-row passengers are treated to Kia's all-new Rear Entertainment System, featuring expansive 14.6-inch monitors for streaming full HD content from popular platforms. Additionally, passengers can seamlessly pair Bluetooth headphones with the system and utilize the screen to mirror content from external devices via HDMI cable—an entertainment experience designed to elevate long journeys.
Further enhancing convenience, owners can utilize Digital Key 2 to access their vehicles via smartphone, while a suite of advanced driver-assistance features, including standard forward collision-avoidance and newly available functionalities like junction crossing and evasive steering assistance, work tirelessly to prevent accidents and ensure safety on the road.
Beneath the hood, the 2025 Carnival retains its dependable 3.5-liter V6 GDI engine, delivering 287 hp and 352 Nm of torque. However, the introduction of a hybrid powertrain option marks a significant milestone for the Carnival lineup. Powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 54 kW motor and a six-speed automatic transmission, the hybrid variant offers a formidable 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque, prioritizing efficiency with aerodynamic 17-inch wheels, Eco/Smart mode, and regenerative braking.
The 2025 Kia Carnival is slated for release this summer, featuring a range of trim options including LX, LXS, EX, SX, and SX Prestige for the standard model, while the Carnival HEV will be available in LXS, EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims, catering to diverse consumer preferences and driving needs.
