1,092 HP Taycan Turbo GT Shatters EV Lap Record at Road Atlanta

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT continues to establish itself as a dominant force in the realm of high-performance electric vehicles, adding yet another lap record to its rapidly growing list of accomplishments. In a remarkable display of power and precision, the 2025 Taycan Turbo GT recently shattered the previous electric vehicle lap record at Road Atlanta. This 2.54-mile track, known for its complex curves and elevation changes, now holds a new benchmark for production EVs—courtesy of Porsche’s latest and most powerful electric sedan.

The record-breaking lap time, an impressive 1:27.15, was set despite some lingering damp patches on the track surface. That’s a full 6.73 seconds faster than the previous best, which was recorded by a Taycan Turbo S back in 2020 with a time of 1:33.88. The car that achieved this latest feat was a 2025 Taycan Turbo GT finished in a striking "Purple Sky" color and equipped with the Weissach Package—an optional performance bundle that dramatically enhances the vehicle's track capabilities. This package notably replaces the rear seats with a carbon fiber shelf, adds a large fixed rear wing, and helps the vehicle generate up to 485 pounds of aerodynamic downforce, significantly improving handling at high speeds.

Under the hood—or more accurately, under the floor and body panels—lies Porsche’s most potent powertrain ever offered. The Taycan Turbo GT delivers an astonishing peak output of up to 1,092 horsepower. Even without the car’s full boost, the standard output of 777 horsepower and 998 pound-feet of torque still puts it among the elite in terms of raw performance. The result is an EV capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 2.1 seconds—one of the quickest times ever recorded for a road-legal electric vehicle.

To ensure optimal performance during the record attempt, Porsche set the tire pressure on the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS NF0 summer tires to 37 psi. In addition, the team used the car’s Track Endurance Mode, a feature designed to pre-condition the battery’s temperature for sustained high-performance use, ensuring consistent power delivery across multiple hot laps.

This latest achievement at Road Atlanta comes on the heels of other notable track successes for the Taycan Turbo GT. In March 2025, it set a 1:42.1 lap at the iconic Interlagos circuit in Brazil, and earlier in the year, it established another record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, solidifying its position as a benchmark for electric performance vehicles.

With each lap, the Taycan Turbo GT not only redefines what’s possible for electric cars—it also challenges the notion that performance and sustainability must be mutually exclusive.
