Zeekr has unveiled a significant mid-life refresh for the 2026 Zeekr 7X, its electric mid-size SUV, bringing faster charging times, more power, and extended driving range. The update comes just days after the first Australian deliveries of the pre-facelift model, signaling the brand’s commitment to rapid innovation in the EV market. The refreshed 7X arrives barely a year after the model’s initial debut in China, where it was launched as Zeekr’s second SUV and positioned as a direct rival to the Tesla Model Y. While the new version has been revealed for the Chinese market, Zeekr Australia has yet to confirm whether the upgrade will reach local shores soon. Given that the outgoing model only recently began deliveries, the updated 7X is likely at least a year away from Australia.

Visually, the facelift introduces subtle yet meaningful design tweaks, most notably a reshaped front bumper featuring new air intakes below the headlights, lending the SUV a sportier and more aggressive appearance. Inside, the familiar 16-inch central touchscreen and 13-inch digital instrument cluster are retained, maintaining the same modern, minimalist layout. However, new additions in the Chinese-spec models include power-operated rear legrests and fold-down tray tables mounted to the front seatbacks—features that enhance passenger comfort and are not yet available on the Australian variant.

Underneath its refreshed styling, the 2026 Zeekr 7X receives major technical upgrades. The SUV’s electric motors and electrical architecture now operate at 900 volts, up from 800 volts previously. This change is paired with a new 103kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack in the long-range versions, replacing the old 100kWh unit. The high-capacity pack allows ultra-fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 10 minutes, a notable improvement over the previous 15-minute benchmark. Zeekr has not confirmed whether the SUV’s peak DC charging rate, currently capped at 420kW, has been increased.

The base model continues with the 75kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, still running on an 800-volt setup, capable of charging from 10% to 80% in about 10.5 minutes. Driving range has improved across all versions, according to China’s CLTC testing cycle. The 75kWh RWD model now offers 620km of range, the 103kWh RWD reaches 802km, and the 103kWh AWD delivers 715km.

Power output has seen a substantial boost as well: the rear-wheel-drive variants now generate 370kW, while the all-wheel-drive flagship rises from 475kW to 585kW. As a result, acceleration figures are sharper, with Zeekr claiming 0–100km/h in 5.4 seconds for the base RWD, 5.1 seconds for the long-range RWD, and a blistering 2.98 seconds for the AWD version—times measured using a drag-racing-style method that subtracts the vehicle’s first 30.5cm of movement.

Technological improvements continue with the introduction of the G-Pilot H7 driver-assistance suite, developed within the Geely Group. The system integrates 31 sensors, including a roof-mounted lidar unit, and is powered by the Nvidia Drive Thor-U chipset, which delivers 700 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of computing power for advanced autonomous features.
