The 2026 Isuzu MU-X Tour Mate special edition has made a comeback in Australian showrooms, based on the range-topping 3.0-litre turbo-diesel LS-T four-wheel-drive variant. Initially launched in late 2024, the Tour Mate returns following the MU-X’s mid-cycle facelift earlier this year and the recent addition of an idle stop-start system designed to improve fuel efficiency.

Priced from $79,990 drive-away, the new Tour Mate is $6000 more expensive than the 2024 version. This price increase reflects the broader rise in the MU-X LS-T’s retail price, which has climbed from $69,400 to $73,400 before on-road costs over the past year. Despite the increase, Isuzu Ute Australia’s official pricing shows the Tour Mate’s drive-away cost aligns closely with that of a standard 3.0-litre LS-T without accessories, hovering around the $80,000 mark. For comparison, the smaller 2.2-litre MU-X LS-T currently sells for $69,990 drive-away, while the flagship 3.0-litre MU-X X-Terrain is listed at $75,990 drive-away.

The Tour Mate package distinguishes itself with a suite of factory-approved accessories, enhancing both practicality and appearance. These include a satin black steel bull bar that retains the front parking sensors and fog lights, as well as a comprehensive tow bar kit featuring a 50-millimetre tow ball, 12-pin flat wiring harness, and an electronic brake controller. Other additions include front and rear slimline weather shields, a durable rear cargo liner, and a choice of rubber or carpet floor mats. A dealer-installed wireless smartphone charger is now standard, providing a modern convenience that was missing in the previous version.

Buyers can also opt for a polished alloy bull bar in place of the satin black unit, although Isuzu has not specified whether this alternative carries an extra cost. Compared to the earlier Tour Mate edition, the 2026 version drops the extendable towing mirrors but compensates with new accessories such as the weather shields, wireless charger, and cargo liner.

Isuzu claims the added equipment represents nearly $9000 worth of genuine towing and protection accessories, offering customers an effective saving of over $7600 compared with buying and fitting these parts separately. As with the standard LS-T, the Tour Mate can be ordered in seven colour choices: Mineral White, Moonstone White Pearl, Mercury Silver, Obsidian Grey, Magnetic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Basalt Black.

The return of the Tour Mate underscores Isuzu’s strategy of offering high-value special editions that blend rugged functionality with convenience, appealing to families and adventure enthusiasts alike.
