Later this year, Mercedes-Benz is set to expand its lineup with the introduction of the 2025 GLC350e 4Matic plug-in hybrid. This new variant will complement the existing GLC300 model in the lineup and is slated to become available for purchase in the US during the second half of 2024.

Powering the GLC350e is a combination of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor with an output of 134 horsepower, and a 24.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The amalgamation of these components results in a total system output of 313 horsepower and 550 Newton-meters of torque. Notably, the electric motor contributes 80% of the total torque output, providing an instantaneous response. While the plug-in hybrid is capable of traveling up to 81 miles on a single charge, it's essential to note that this figure was obtained under Europe's more lenient WLTP cycle, with the US expected to have a slightly lower range. The battery can be recharged using the standard 60-kilowatt DC charger in approximately 30 minutes.

The GLC350e will be offered in three trim levels: Standard, Exclusive, and Pinnacle. The Standard trim comes generously equipped with features such as heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, power liftgate, blind-spot assist, and adaptive high-beam assist. Stepping up to the Exclusive trim adds enhancements like a Burmester 3D Surround Sound audio system, upgraded ambient lighting, and illuminated door sills. The Pinnacle trim tops it off with additional amenities including a head-up display, noise- and heat-insulating glass, and upgraded Digital Light headlights.

Inside the cabin, occupants will be greeted by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch central infotainment display. Customers will have the freedom to choose from a wide array of customization options, including 11 exterior colors, 13 upholstery selections, and eight distinctive wheel designs.

According to Mercedes, the GLC350e 4Matic will round out the GLC range and is expected to arrive at dealerships later this year. Pricing details for the crossover will be announced closer to its on-sale date. For reference, the 2023 GLC300 4Matic, featuring a 255-horsepower engine and 295 lb-ft of torque, starts at $50,250 (inclusive of the $1,150 destination charge). It's anticipated that the new plug-in hybrid variant will command a higher price point than its non-hybrid counterpart.
