The brand-new Master light commercial vehicle (LCV), which benefits from a fresh design for the first time in 13 years, was unveiled by Renault. There will be hydrogen, fully electric, and diesel powertrain options available. Due to its increased aerodynamics, the new large van model has class-leading efficiency.
The Renault Master's new "multi-energy" platform can accommodate powertrains that run on electricity, hydrogen, or diesel. With four distinct power outputs, the Blue dCi diesel uses less fuel and produces fewer CO2 particles than its predecessor.
A single electric motor that generates 129 horsepower or 141 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque powers the Renault Master, which is entirely electric. The less potent model has a 40 kWh battery pack that provides 180 km of WLTP range. With an 87 kWh battery that is noticeably bigger than the previous generation's, the other model can travel 410 km, more than doubling its driving range. With a 130 kW DC fast charge, the large battery can add 229 km of range in just 30 minutes. Additionally, the EV has the ability to charge from both vehicle to load (V2L) and vehicle to grid (V2G).
There are two gearbox options available for the diesel engines: a 9-speed automatic and a manual. In the near future, the Renault Master will also be offered with a fuel cell (FCEV) powertrain and a hydrogen H2-tech engine.
Renault claims that the CO2 emissions from the diesel-powered model are 39g/km lower than before, dropping below the 200 g/km mark. Similarly, the fully electric versions have a 20% reduction in energy consumption, resulting in a 20% increase in range.
The redesigned body features design cues from Renault's passenger lineup, such as the C-shaped LED headlights in the Megane style, a new emblem on the larger grille, and contemporary intakes on the bumper. There are more than 300 unique colors to pick from, compared to the seven options in the standard color scheme.
The S-shaped, curved cockpit of the OpelR Link infotainment system, which comes with Google preinstalled, has a standard 10-inch touchscreen, an optional digital instrument cluster, rotary dials for the climate controls, and a steering wheel that is taken from the passenger line of Renault.
The central seat can fold into a desk, and there are USB-C ports, wireless chargers, cupholders, drawers, storage tiers mounted on the doors, and a cab-ceiling slot.
There are over forty versions of the large van to choose from, each with a unique cargo area configuration, height, and length. The payload capacity is up to 4 tonnes, and the capacity ranges from 11 to 22 cubic meters. Furthermore, according to Renault, the loading width and length of the Master are the best in its class.
Finally, up to 20 ADAS can be included in the safety kit. All versions of the Renault Master will be built on the same assembly line in Batily, France. Pricing will be announced closer to the market launch date of spring 2024.
