It is 2021 and Toyota has launched a new version of the popular Corolla called 1.5L version for Chinese market.
The 2021 Toyota Corolla which is built on a TNGA architecture may not be very new by the look because it is the same as the latest generation of Corolla that is available in the global market but it has some subtle changes to attract younger buyers. Unlike the past, Toyota Corolla is absolutely not a car that can attract young buyers who are looking for a sporty design and dynamics.
Inside the cabin, Toyota also improved the 2021 model by using more soft material and a new air-conditioning system with ECO mode. Corolla’s cabin is also very spacious compared to many other rivals in this segment as even passengers with near 180 cm of height can easily fit in rear seats.
While the Corolla is available with different engines around the world, for 2021 Chinese buyers can get their Corolla with a new 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 119 hp. There is also a 1.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine available with 113 hp that is the same as what we have seen before on Toyota C-HR. buyers who are looking for a more economical and environmentally friendly option can go for the 1.8-liter 96 hp hybrid engine that is connected to a 71 hp electric motor and CVT transmission.
The new 1.5-liter unit is also a very economical engine and consumes less fuel than its opponents thanks to the new technologies like dual VVY variable valve timing and a new direct-injection system.
