VW Expands Customer Bonus to $7,500 Amid Lagging ID. Buzz Sales

Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz electric van has had a slower start in the American market than the company likely anticipated. During the first nine months of the year, VW managed to sell only 2,469 units of the retro-styled EV—a number that positions it as the poorest performer in the brand’s U.S. lineup. Only by separating low-volume enthusiast models like the Golf GTI and Golf R could the ID. Buzz avoid that title, but in practical terms, it remains one of the hardest vehicles for the company to move off showroom floors. With sales lagging and a new model year approaching, dealerships across the country have been stepping up their incentive game in an effort to clear remaining stock.

For anyone who has been considering purchasing an ID. Buzz, the current moment may represent the most favorable opportunity yet. Just before November drew to a close, Volkswagen significantly increased the Retail Customer Bonus available on the electric van. What had previously been a $2,500 discount suddenly ballooned to a far more substantial $7,500, introduced during the Black Friday sales period but extended deep into January.

This isn’t the only deal buyers can chase. The ID. Buzz also qualifies for an additional $2,500 Dealer Bonus, which theoretically puts the total potential savings at an impressive $10,000. However, as highlighted by Cars Direct, that dealer incentive is not guaranteed to reach the customer. Dealerships have full discretion over whether they pass the bonus along or keep it for themselves, so buyers who want to maximize savings will need to negotiate confidently. Both incentive programs apply to every trim level in the lineup.

The ID. Buzz currently begins at $59,995 for the Pro S model, with another $1,550 added for destination and handling. When the full stack of incentives is applied, the price can fall to around $51,545, making it significantly more approachable. But the savings don’t stop there—some dealerships are taking discounting even further.

A search on Autotrader reveals several remarkably aggressive price cuts. Tynan’s Volkswagen in Aurora, Colorado, for instance, is advertising three 2025 ID. Buzz Pro S vans for just $36,695 each. That figure represents a dramatic $25,500 reduction from the original $62,195 MSRP, and each vehicle has 15 miles or fewer on the odometer. Similar deals can be found in other regions as well. Karen Radley Volkswagen in Woodbridge, Virginia lists two brand-new Pro S units for $45,195, offering a still-impressive $17,000 discount on fully unused vehicles.

These aren’t isolated cases. Across the U.S., dozens of Pro S models are available for under $48,000, making this a particularly advantageous time for shoppers who have been eyeing Volkswagen’s nostalgic electric van. With widespread markdowns, stacked incentives, and dealers eager to move existing inventory, bargain hunters are likely to find no shortage of appealing options.
