Toyota Gazoo Racing On The 2021 Dakar Rally In Saudi Arabia

Rally is always on of the best competitions in the cars and trucks field. Now the 2021 Dakar Rally is going to be held in Saudi Arabian City of Jeddah. That is some how interesting the combination of sands and cars. But the real news is here. Toyota Gazoo Racing is signing up for the Rally with four different teams who are on the wheel of the new Toyota Hilux.

Dakar Rally is an annual Rally raid. From 2009 to 2019 South America was the host of this competition. In 2020 just like the 2021 Saudi Arabia was opened to the Rally which is suitable not just for armatures but also for professionals. The Toyotas teams are consisted of professionals and also well-trained juniors.

Four Toyota’s Teams

The First team of Toyota is Nasser Al-Attiyah and navigator Mathieu Baumel. They have been on this event for a long time and have good records. Next team is rookie Henk Lategan and navigator Brett Cummings. They are coming from south Africa to join the Gazoo team. It will be Henk’s first Dakar Rally.

Giniel de Villiers and navigator Alex Haro are building the next group to fight for Gazoo Racing. These two driver and navigator are also a very strong team as they have a long history in Dakar Rally. And the last team is Shameer Variawa and navigator Dennis Murphy.shameer and Dennis are from South Africa. Shameer is already a local champion.

Latest Toyota Hilux For Dakar Rally

For winning the Rally, Toyota Gazoo Racing team are using the Hilux which is developed in South Africa, in Johannesburg. The base Toyota Hilux truck is the same as the one was used in 2018. this vehicle is equipped with mid-mounted engine, independent rear suspension and all-wheel drive. The overall cars look is unchanged but the suspension is improved. Also, under the hood is the naturally aspirated V8 engine.

Dakar Rally Toyota Teams with Hilux

The 2021 edition of the Dakar Rally is going to be held on 3th of January. The route consists of two looped stages which start and end at the same place, as well as the traditional Marathon Stage which competitors will have to complete without an overnight return for service in the bivouac.
