Tata Altroz 2025 Facelift Revealed

Tata Motors has unveiled the 2025 facelift of its Altroz hatchback, a popular budget-friendly model sold exclusively in India. First introduced in 2019, the Altroz had started to feel a bit dated after six years on the market. The latest update refreshes the vehicle’s appeal significantly, both inside and out. Rather than being a minor cosmetic update, the 2025 facelift gives the Altroz a more comprehensive transformation, inspired by Tata’s more modern design language. It’s a clear reminder of how thoughtful design revisions and a few well-placed enhancements can breathe new life into an aging vehicle.

The exterior design has been overhauled to give the Altroz a sharper, more refined look. At the front, the hatchback now features sleeker headlights and sportier bumper intakes, lending it a more aggressive and premium presence. On the side, the car sports new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, which evoke comparisons to Hyundai’s design cues. The doors and fenders have been reworked with cleaner lines and updated with flush-mounted door handles for a more streamlined look. The rear of the car is equally stylish, boasting slimmer taillights connected by a striking full-width LED strip, complemented by a redesigned bumper with plastic cladding to add some ruggedness.

Inside, the cabin of the 2025 Altroz feels significantly more upscale. One of the most eye-catching changes is the dual 10.25-inch digital displays, which modernize the dashboard and enhance the overall driving experience. A more angular dashboard design, a two-spoke steering wheel, and updated climate control switches—borrowed from the Tata Curvv—add to the fresh interior feel. Rear passengers are treated to improved comfort, thanks to a redesigned lounge-style rear bench with better thigh support. Moreover, the rear doors now open a full 90 degrees, improving accessibility. Safety and convenience features have also been upgraded across the board, with all variants offering six airbags as standard. Higher trims come equipped with premium features such as a voice-activated sunroof, wireless charging, and an eight-speaker Harman sound system.

Under the hood, however, the Altroz remains unchanged. It retains the same trio of powertrain options: a 1.2-liter bi-fuel engine producing 73 hp, a 1.2-liter petrol engine delivering 87 hp, and a 1.5-liter diesel generating 89 hp. These are paired with a range of transmissions, including a five-speed manual, a six-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a newly introduced five-speed automatic. All configurations are front-wheel drive. Enthusiasts are still waiting to see if an updated version of the sportier Altroz Racer—currently powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine delivering 118 hp—will join the lineup.

As for pricing, the base model, known as the Altroz Smart, starts at just $8,100—only a slight increase over the previous version. The top-tier Accomplished +S trim comes in at $13,300. While these prices may seem incredibly affordable compared to similar models in the West, they are typical within the Indian hatchback market. The Altroz competes with popular models like the Hyundai i20, Suzuki Baleno, and Toyota Glanza. Among them, the Suzuki Baleno remains the most affordable, starting at $7,900.
