Porsche has unveiled a new offering for its electric Taycan lineup: the Black Edition—a value-packed trim that bundles together many of the Taycan’s most desirable options into a single, stylish package. Targeted at the base rear-wheel-drive sedan as well as the all-wheel-drive Taycan 4 and Taycan 4S models, the Black Edition aims to deliver both performance and premium features at a more affordable price point than if each option were added individually.

True to its name, the Black Edition features a range of darkened design elements, but there’s more than just cosmetic flair here. One of the most significant upgrades is the inclusion of the Performance Battery Plus, which has a capacity of 105.0 kWh—an improvement over the standard 97.0-kWh battery. This upgrade, usually a $5,780 standalone option, is included as part of the Black Edition package. In addition to this power boost, Porsche also equips the vehicle with standard 21-inch wheels, metallic exterior paint, SportDesign front and rear bumpers, and distinctive decals on the front doors, setting the Black Edition apart from regular Taycan trims.
Inside the cabin, the Black Edition is outfitted with a suite of luxury and tech features designed to elevate the driving experience. These include 14-way power-adjustable seats, blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera system with active park assist, and HD Matrix Design LED headlights that offer superior nighttime visibility. A Bose surround sound system is also standard, delivering premium audio quality. Adding a bit of flair, the vehicle projects the Porsche logo onto the ground when the doors are opened, a subtle but elegant touch. Additional interior highlights include Porsche crests embossed in the headrests, special Black Edition door sills, and a Black Edition logo on the center console.
While many of Porsche’s black, white, silver, and gray paint choices are included at no extra charge, opting for a more vibrant exterior color will require an additional fee. And although the package offers significant savings, Porsche customers can still personalize their vehicle further through the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program—including custom paint-to-sample options—though this may diminish the intended value-focused nature of the Black Edition.
This marks the first time Porsche has used the “Black Edition” name since 2016, when it applied the designation to models such as the 911, Boxster, and Cayman. More recently, Porsche offered “Platinum Edition” versions of the Cayenne and Panamera, similarly loaded with standard equipment. While the GTS once served as Porsche’s value-oriented performance trim, it has since evolved into a more distinct high-performance tier.
Porsche hasn’t revealed official pricing for the Taycan Black Editions yet, which may be influenced by ongoing global trade and tariff developments. However, the company is expected to provide full pricing details closer to the vehicles' U.S. launch, which is scheduled for fall 2025.
