After Porsche Cayenne, the small crossover, Porsche Macan is the best seller vehicle for this automaker. But the emission regulations are getting more and more restrict, so maybe the end for this car be near. Although Macan is a success for Porsche, but according to the report of Autocar magazine, with high possibility there will be no gasoline model of Macan by 2024.
Europe is approaching to the future of electric vehicle. So, car makers should adopt them selves with the new situation. Macan with 43,618 units of sale till today is not also immune. Actually, just some couple of years, this car stays untouched, but later gradually it would be a plug-in hybrid and later fully electric car. These changes take three years. Sebastian Staiger, as the vehicle's product line boss told:
"Today, no final decision has been taken, but we assume that 2024 will be the year."
He also added:
"emission laws are another limiting factor."
As Euro 7 comes to effect in 2025, there would be now way out for this firm, so its better to have the long plan to reach the zero-emission model. The first electric model of Macan comes next year and joins the market in 2023 as the first electric model to ride on the Premium Platform Electric architecture jointly developed by Porsche and Audi. This platform was used for Q6 E-Tron and also Audi is developing the PPE-based A6 E-Tron.
The latest upgraded gas-powered Macan is just like the other versions, but doesn’t have the Turbo option. The GTS is now with its twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 as the old Turbo on top of the pyramide (434 hp). Then stands the Macan S with 375 hp, and at last the base four-cylinder model with 261 hp.
