The new 2022 Porsche Macan made its way to the market recently. Its not a whole new car, as we have seen the spy shouts and some technical information leaked out. But what makes this release interesting is about the powertrain. No more Turbo for the next year model, and more LEDs. The antique front grille is also something to be controversial.
The odd thing that happened to the new Macan, was omitting the turbo from the engine system. This new one is a GTS. Though, the output can reach to 434 hp. That’s just equal with the twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 used in the Turbo. When the optional Sport Chrono Package is turned on, this semi-SUV can hit 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and hits 279 km/h as the top speed. That’s slightly faster than the Turbo version. We don’t say these things, Porsche said.
Beside the engine, this beloved automaker hit all the Macan trim levels on. Comparing with the last year’s Base Macan, with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and 261-hp and 400 Nm of torque, the new Macan S will be a replace for the last year’s GTS. So, all the versions with the V6, have the 375-hp output, and also all four wheels with a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The other standard items with the new model are Surface Coated Brakes, adaptive air suspension with a slightly lower ride height, and a suspension that's up to 15 percent stiffer compared to the previous GTS.
The sport package for the new Macan means performance necessities, just like the Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus. But what is added to the package is the plethora of eye candy. The Sport, means side mirrors have a gloss black color cover, perfect 21-inch GT Design wheels with performance tires, 18 options of sport seats inside, and the last one is side skits in black just like the front and rear facias.
If we all forget this is the 2022 Macan, the front Fascia could fool us. This car has integrated air intakes and front trim finished in body color. Although the changes are new, but can’t say from this era. The narrow vents at the bottom are replaced with a continuous strip, and the entire face looks a bit boxier and more symmetrical.
The rear Fascia has a black diffuser that's stretched upwards. The designers of this vehicle, really loved the 3D elements. We can see them on the LED headlights and side blade with another texture. By any kind of trims, the size of the wheels could vary from 19-inch to 21-inch.
Inside the car experienced some updates too. The center console is eye catching. It has touch elements for a cleaner look while also offering more storage. The gear stalk which is extended from console is a bit shorter, and you can use the new steering wheel adopted from the 911. In the Center the 10.9-inches touchscreen is located and to give the feeling of stone ages, it has analog clock too. About new technical facilities, we can name the driver-assist and safety systems such as park assist, lane-keep assist, and other features are available.
As Porsche is in charge of pricing its vehicle, the standard Macan starts at $54,900. For the Macan S you should spend more money, about $65,400. And the GTS is most expensive one. It costs $79,000. For the buyers from overseas some other changes will be added to. By the early 2022 this vehicle is ready to be delivered to customers.
