NAMX Reveals Hydrogen-Powered SUV

Author: |

NAMX, a startup in the automotive industry, showed a concept version of its first vehicle. The hydrogen-powered SUV is dubbed a "HUV" with exclusive new technology and Pininfarina design. The actual party trick of the HUV is found deeper within the vehicle's innards, where fuel storage is concerned. A fixed hydrogen tank and six extra removable capsules serve as supplementary tanks in NAMX's proprietary technology.

The base model will be rear-wheel-drive and produce 296 horsepower. It has a top speed of 200 km/h and can reach 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, the GTH version will have four-wheel drive and 542 horsepower. It will have a top speed of 250 km/h and will accelerate to 100 km/h in under 4.5 seconds.

Pininfarina said it collaborated with NAMX to make sure the HUV is a "next-generation" vehicle that doesn't forget its roots. The automotive startup is being run by a group of automotive industry veterans with expertise at firms like Matra, Renault, and others, with the support of Pininfarina.

The HUV will make its physical premiere at the Paris Auto Show this September, with development beginning in 2023. The car's production version will not be available until 2025, which is a few years away.

These models will cost between €65,000 and €95,000 to buy.
