The 2025 Mahindra XUV 3XO is set to make a strong impact on the Australian automotive market, positioning itself as one of the most affordable new vehicles available. Launching this week in showrooms across Australia, the compact city SUV will be sold alongside Mahindra’s range of larger family-oriented SUVs and four-wheel drives. As part of a limited-time introductory offer available until August 31, the base model of the XUV 3XO will start at a competitive $23,490 drive-away. After this period, the price will rise slightly to $23,990 drive-away from September 1, placing it on par with the Chery Tiggo 4 ($23,990) and still well below the MG ZS, which starts at $26,990 drive-away.
The XUV 3XO made its local debut at the Melbourne Motor Show and has already been available in the Indian market since last year. The vehicle’s platform has its origins in the SsangYong Tivoli, a compact SUV previously sold in Australia before the brand was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, SsangYong was under Mahindra’s ownership. Initially, Australian buyers will be able to choose between two trim levels: the entry-level AX5L and the more premium AX7L. The introductory price applies to the AX5L variant, while the AX7L will be offered at $26,490 drive-away until the end of August, rising to $26,990 afterward.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO is a subcompact SUV that measures 3990mm in length, 1821mm in width, and 1647mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2600mm. It offers 364 litres of luggage capacity with the rear seats in place. This positions it as one of the smallest SUVs currently available in Australia, appealing especially to urban drivers looking for a nimble and affordable vehicle.
Despite its low price, the XUV 3XO comes well-equipped. The AX5L variant includes features such as black cloth upholstery, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster of the same size, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear selector. Other standard equipment includes a six-speaker audio system, a chilled glovebox, a sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, and keyless entry. The AX7L version enhances the offering with 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon sound system with seven speakers and a subwoofer, a wireless phone charger, LED fog lights, additional USB-C ports, and leather-look interior finishes.
Both variants are powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivering 82kW of power and 200Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and drives the front wheels. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres, placing it between the Chery Tiggo 4 petrol model (7.4L/100km) and its hybrid version (5.4L/100km).
Mahindra backs the XUV 3XO with a comprehensive seven-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty. Scheduled maintenance is required every 12 months or 10,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. The vehicle officially goes on sale in Australian dealerships starting July 4, 2025.
