Honda is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its globally renowned CR-V with the launch of a special edition tailored exclusively for the Chinese market. First introduced three decades ago, the CR-V has become one of Honda’s most successful and best-selling SUVs worldwide. To mark this milestone, the Japanese automaker has introduced a new model variant that brings more features, greater comfort, and competitive pricing that undercuts many of its international counterparts. Buyers in China can select the anniversary model with either a gasoline or hybrid powertrain, ensuring wide appeal for different preferences.

Production for the Chinese-market CR-V is handled by Dongfeng Honda, while a mechanically similar sibling, known as the Breeze, is built by GAC Honda. On the exterior, the Global 30th Anniversary Edition does not stray far from the familiar CR-V design language. It carries over modern touches such as LED headlights, an active grille for better efficiency, and—on the hybrid version—body-colored cladding for a sleeker appearance. Depending on the chosen trim level, customers can also select from alloy wheels sized at 17, 18, or 19 inches, giving some degree of personalization.
Inside the cabin, however, the anniversary edition distinguishes itself more clearly from standard versions. Every trim level is equipped with a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument panel and a large 12.3-inch infotainment display, both of which represent a step up from models sold in North America. By comparison, the U.S.-spec CR-V features a smaller 9-inch infotainment screen and, in lower trims, just a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. A panoramic glass roof is also fitted across the range, further enhancing the interior’s sense of space and premium feel.
Chinese buyers also benefit from a higher level of comfort equipment than their American counterparts. The anniversary CR-V can be specified with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and even a heated steering wheel—features not universally available on overseas models. Customers also have the flexibility to choose between five-seat and seven-seat configurations, making the SUV more versatile for families. At the top of the range, the special edition gains luxury touches such as a hands-free electric tailgate, a powerful 50-watt wireless phone charger, a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, a head-up display, and the Honda Sensing 360+ safety package.
Mechanically, the model does not introduce surprises, staying consistent with proven Honda engines. The gasoline-powered CR-V uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 190 horsepower and 243 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a CVT transmission and is available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts. Alternatively, the CR-V e:HEV hybrid version combines a 2.0-liter engine with dual electric motors for a total system output of 181 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque. Like the gasoline model, the hybrid also offers a choice between FWD and AWD configurations, delivering a balance of efficiency and performance.
With this special edition, Honda reinforces the CR-V’s strong reputation in China by combining value, luxury, and versatility. The Global 30th Anniversary Edition not only honors the model’s long history but also highlights how Honda is tailoring its offerings to meet the expectations of increasingly demanding Chinese consumers.
