FAW has officially begun taking pre-sale orders for the Hongqi HS6 PHEV, offering the plug-in hybrid SUV at prices ranging from $25,200 to $32,200. Buyers will be able to choose from three different configurations, which include both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive variants. Each trim also comes with a different CLTC-rated pure-electric driving range—145 km, 240 km, and 220 km—providing several options depending on customers’ driving habits and daily commuting needs.
One of the highlights of the HS6 PHEV’s introduction is the remarkable achievement it secured even before reaching showrooms. The two-wheel-drive version set a brand-new Guinness World Record, becoming the plug-in hybrid SUV with the longest distance traveled without refueling. It successfully covered an impressive 2,327.343 kilometers, demonstrating both the efficiency and durability of its hybrid powertrain.
Classified as a medium-to-large five-seat SUV, the Hongqi HS6 PHEV features dimensions of 4925 mm in length, 1970 mm in width, and 1740 mm in height, with a 2925 mm wheelbase, ensuring a spacious interior. The standard cargo capacity of the vehicle is 503 liters, but this figure increases dramatically to 1,977 liters when the rear seats are folded down. Additionally, the model includes a 49-liter hidden storage compartment beneath the trunk floor. Buyers can select from four exterior colors—black, white, silver, and gray—providing a modest yet refined palette.
Powering the SUV is a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with one or two electric motors, depending on the configuration chosen. The gasoline engine produces 148 horsepower and boasts an impressive thermal efficiency of 45.21%. The total system output stands at 225 horsepower for the two-wheel-drive trim, while the four-wheel-drive model delivers a substantial 495 horsepower, offering a more performance-oriented experience. Customers can choose between two lithium iron phosphate battery options: 23.9 kWh or 39.5 kWh. When used to their full potential, these allow the vehicle to reach a maximum CLTC comprehensive range of 1,650 kilometers. Charging capabilities are also noteworthy, as the battery supports 4C fast charging, enabling a charge from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes. The SUV achieves a top speed of 205 km/h and maintains an exceptionally low fuel consumption rate of 0.4 liters per 100 kilometers.
Inside the cabin, the HS6 PHEV puts technology at the forefront. The dashboard is dominated by two 15.6-inch displays, one for the main infotainment system and the other for the co-pilot’s entertainment. These are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chipset and come integrated with an AI-driven voice assistant. The D-shaped steering wheel features a two-tone look and includes a heating function, while a large 30-inch AR-HUD provides key driving data. Comfort is prioritized throughout, with all seats equipped with both heating and ventilation, and the front passenger seat featuring an electric leg rest with a reclining angle of up to 173 degrees.
Additional amenities include a high-quality Dynaudio sound system, a large 1.38-square-meter panoramic sunroof, and even an in-car refrigerator capable of cooling or heating between 2°C and 50°C. With a 6-liter capacity and remote app-based control, this fridge adds a premium touch to the SUV’s feature set.
