Despite rumors suggesting the Audi Q2's uncertain future, the automaker remains undeterred in its commitment to updating their entry-level crossover. In a mid-year makeover, the Q2 is undergoing a substantial "comprehensive technology upgrade," aimed at imbuing the crossover with a more contemporary feel. This welcome development entails equipping the model with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside an 8.8-inch infotainment system.
These enhancements mark a significant departure from the Q2's previous configuration, which featured analog gauges and a modest 7-inch display. While an 8.3-inch infotainment system was available as an option, the shift to a standard 8.8-inch display represents a notable improvement in functionality and user experience.
Audi emphasizes that the digital instrument cluster boasts a luminous, full HD display offering extensive customization options. Conversely, the infotainment system is lauded for its high responsiveness, incorporating speech recognition technology and connected features such as remote door unlocking. Notably, the traditional rotary controller has been replaced by a new storage compartment, streamlining the cabin layout.
While the bulk of changes revolve around technological enhancements, Audi has introduced some additional updates. These include a new steering wheel design and an expanded array of standard safety features. Among the latter are lane departure warning, rear park assist, and traffic sign recognition technology, augmenting the Q2's safety profile.
Scheduled for launch in the first half of 2024, the updated Q2 will debut with a starting price of €28,600 in Germany. The model lineup will encompass a variety of engine options, catering to diverse preferences and performance requirements. These include a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine producing 114 horsepower, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 148 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter TDI engine generating 148 horsepower.
Amidst speculation surrounding its future, the Audi Q2 forges ahead with a significant technological overhaul, elevating its appeal and ensuring its competitiveness in the ever-evolving crossover segment.
