Stellantis is broadening its lineup in Mexico with the introduction of a new midsize pickup truck, the 2025 Ram 1200. Despite bearing the Ram name, this vehicle has more in common with its Fiat and Peugeot siblings, the Titano and Landtrek, than with traditional Ram models. All three trucks share a common platform built in China, making the Ram 1200 more of a rebranded variant than an original design. It's crucial to note that this model is distinct from the Ram Rampage, a unibody pickup already available in other South American markets.

The Ram 1200 distinguishes itself with unique exterior styling, featuring a bespoke grille and a large Ram badge on the tailgate. It is available in two body styles: a two-door Regular Cab and a four-door Crew Cab, both offering different bed lengths to cater to various hauling needs.

The entry-level Tradesman trim is characterized by an unpainted plastic bumper and 16-inch steel wheels. Moving up the range, the Bighorn and Laramie trims offer more luxurious features such as body-colored cladding, 18-inch alloy wheels, additional LED lighting, and chrome-accented grilles.

Inside the cabin, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominates the dashboard, accompanied by an analog instrument cluster that adds a touch of classic style. The system supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ensuring seamless smartphone integration. Buyers can choose between cloth or synthetic leather upholstery based on their preferences.

Safety features include the standard suite of airbags, parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera to assist in navigating tight spaces. While the array of driver assistance technologies is somewhat limited, the truck does come with essential features like trailer stability control, hill climb assist, and lane departure warning.

The Ram 1200, like its Fiat and Peugeot counterparts, is built on a ladder frame chassis, derived from the Chinese Kaicene F70 and Changan pickups.

Powering the truck is a single turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering a respectable 207 horsepower and 306 Nm of torque. However, some may wish for a broader range of powertrain options. The engine is mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The Tradesman and Bighorn trims feature rear-wheel drive, while the top-tier Laramie model comes with a robust 4WD system, ideal for more challenging terrains.

2025 Ram 1200 pickup

the Ram 1200 boasts a towing capacity of 3,000 kg, which is competitive with other midsize pickups in Mexico and globally. The payload capacity ranges from 1,150 to 1,210 kg, depending on the specific configuration. Local automotive news outlet Noticias Autocosmos has confirmed that the 2025 Ram 1200 will be imported from China. Pricing starts at $25,100 for the base Tradesman Regular Cab 4×2 with a manual transmission and goes up to $37,800 for the fully loaded Laramie 4×4 automatic.
