2023 Hyundai Palisade To Upgrade It’s ANCAP Rating

Following re-testing by the local crash testing organization ANCAP, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade received a five-star safety rating for the safety enhancements made for the facelifted model.

For Palisades produced after May 2022, when improvements to the Hyundai SUV's crash safety and driver assistance technologies were made as part of a mid-life facelift, the five-star rating is applicable.

The new airbag installed by the car manufacturer is located between the front seats. Because it failed to meet the performance standards for two categories (Adult Occupant Protection and Safety Assist) the pre-facelift vehicle was only given four stars.

The upgraded autonomous emergency braking system for the 2023 Palisade was retested, and a new test mimicking a side-impact incident was done to assess the new front-center airbag, according to photos provided by ANCAP.

The Palisade's score in the category of Safety Assist increased to 83%.

The Palisade initially achieved 79 percent and 63 percent for these areas, falling short of the ANCAP's minimum requirements of 80 percent and 70 percent, respectively, for a five-star rating.

The Hyundai Palisade's Adult Occupant Protection rating was increased to 84% with the addition of the additional center airbag.

An improved autonomous emergency braking (AEB) technology is included with the new Palisade. Additionally, it now includes multi-collision braking, which recognizes traffic signs and immediately applies the brakes when the vehicle detects a collision. The Speed Assistance System's evaluation was reassessed by ANCAP as well.

Data provided by Hyundai showed that pedestrian protection performance was equivalent to the pre-facelift model even though the revised Hyundai Palisade has a new exterior.

The updated 2023 Hyundai Palisade goes on sale this month in Australian showrooms for AU$65,900 to AU$79,900.
