Toyota will enter four all-new GR DKR T1+ Hilux models in the 2022 Dakar Rally and Toyota has confirmed its participation in the 2022 Dakar Rally. The GR DKR Hilux T1+ is the name given to this vehicle. It will continue to evolve until the famed off-road motorsports event, which will take place in Saudi Arabia on January 2nd.

The most intriguing aspect of the GR DKR Hilux T1+ is under the hood, where the Japanese carmaker has installed a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine similar to the one found in the J300 Land Cruiser GR Sport. The power unit produces 400 horsepower and 660 Nm of FIA-regulated output.

Although the entire weight of the vehicle has been raised to 2 tons, Toyota claims that the V35A V6 is lighter and more torquey than the previous Hilux rally racer.

Other improvements to the GR DKR Hilux T1+ have also been made by Toyota. Suspension travel, for example, has been extended from 280 to 350mm.
